If a muscle isn't constantly stretched, an immediate fast twitch reaction can easily pull a weakened muscle from the pelvis.

Elite athletes pull strings all the time. Regular folks not so much because we don't make the same movements most athletes make regularly.

Who is your surgeon?

You're definitely going to be laid up for a spell. Probably a full leg brace that actually wraps around your pelvis.

It's not unusual for you to have this as an outpatient. They'll give you pain meds. Just use them wisely. And taking a dump? Get a high chair for the commode if you can. More than likely your leg will remain straight while having to sit on the can. If you have a low commode, that's going to be a problem for you.

I tore (micro tear) my gastrocnemius muscle in the calf. No surgery. Took 5 weeks to heal. Every step was an adventure.

Yea it's at St. Lukes, at Rockhill Orthopedics, my surgeon is a Dr. Jay Rapley.

Make sure you follow the instructions regarding rehab and at-home PT excercises. Most people discount those things, but they really help. Take it easy for exactly as long and in exactly the ways you are instructed. Do the PT exactly as often as they say you can. Make it your goal to amaze them with how fast you recover!

I usually heal fast, the PT isn't what I'm worried about, not being able to put any weight on my leg for 2 months is what I'm worried about.

Me too actually always more of a science guy than language. I guess my point is just have something to focus on mentally. Using the time you have to learn something may help distract from physical discomfort.
