Titans didn't really 'let him walk' per se ... Titans made him a good offer, but he chose TB instead. But I think there were multiple things that lead to that decision.
1) Speculation is that Verner may have felt a little disrespected since last camp the Titans put him in a competition with Tommie Campbell (who is now cut), and it appeared the coaching staff did all they could to give Tommie the job (although that was a different staff) 2) I think the coaches over estimated what our young corners could do. Everyone was high on Sensabaugh and Blidi-Wreh, so they probably weren't that concerned about losing Verner (until camp started and they didn't look so good anymore) 3) Verner wasn't a great scheme fit. We will probably be playing more man, and Vern was a better zone type player. Smallish and slower, but very smart and just had a great knack for putting himself in the right position and diagnosing plays |

The next tackle that Dexter McCluster breaks will be the first.
In that gif, he isn't breaking tackles. That's some outstanding blocking. But, with any vision, he has one cut to his left at the line to find himself with open space and at least a 20 yard gain. Dexter McCluster is a mediocre talent. No vision, no speed, no elusiveness, and no power.

If the Chiefs want to win this game, they need to rely on the TEs and RB IMO ... The Titans might not be able to stop either.
I really think that the Titans will go into this game with the plan to sell out to stop the run early on D, and take advantage of the WR/secondary matchups on O. They will want to score points quickly to force KC to abandon the run (since they can't stop it). The Titans corners aren't great, but I just dont think the coaches will be scared of Alex Smith and no Bowe. If chiefs D can hold the Titans O and play ball control, then KC will win ... if Titans can get the passing going early, then Titans win. But look for KC to score on their opening possession ... every team in preseason scored a TD on the opening drive |

Hey folks, another Titan fan here.

I'm happy with our RBs. We don't have any legit stars but we have 3 guys in Greene, Sankey, and McCluster who all bring something different to the table and we should be able to get it done on the ground by RBBC. Obviously you guys are more familiar with McCluster than we are but I like what we've seen so far in preseason. But.... preseason. I think you underrate our WR group but can totally understand why you would. Our passing game will surprise people this year. I won't be shocked if Wright develops into a legit #1 type WR this year. Considering we had Fitzpatrick playing QB most of last year it's an amazing accomplishment Wright even managed to get 1,000 yards. Hunter is going to be very, very good. He still has a lot to learn but has looked great in preseason. Washington may not be elite but is the definition of solid and reliable. Any team would be lucky to have him. On paper, we have one of the better OLs in the league. Of course that was the case last year too and they still disappointed. But we will no doubt be much better this year. Amazing how two HoF OLman (Munchak and Matthews) could field such pathetic OLs but they somehow managed it. Defense..... ugh. I don't even want to talk about it. It's gonna be tough to watch. I know it was only preseason but we've been getting zero pressure on the QB and can't tackle to save our lives. If we can't fix the tackling issues Charles could single-handedly win this game for your guys. For everyone saying Succop was a terrible pickup.... trust me, you didn't see what we were working with prior to his signing. |
