Let's talk salary cap.

In particular, 2015's salary cap.

According to Overthecap.com, we are currently slated at $123m, when the projected cap is going to be $140m.

We're almost certainly going to cut Hali, which will net us 9m. We're probably going to cut Sean Smith, which will net us 5.5m. We'll probably cut Chase Daniel (who is projected to be the 9th highest contract on our team in 2015, which is ****ing nuts), which will save us 3.5. It's possible the team cuts Fasano as he's costing us about $4m/year, however he wouldn't even save us $2m if we did, so I'm not going to include him in my calculations. Cutting Donnie Avery would net us $3.5m, but it's not remotely clear if we're in a position to do that, seeing how we have no WRs on this team.

We'll almost certainly extend Eric Berry, but seeing how the going rate for an elite safety is about what he's making now, I'm projecting zero cap change on him.

So that leaves us, assuming there's no change on the Alex Smith/Justin Houston front, with $35m in cap space.

That should be enough to sign Alex Smith long term, get Houston inked or franchised, and sign our draft picks, and little else.

Everything frees up in 2016, but in 2015, we're looking at another year of a tight cap due to our signings in 2013.

I think Hali retires and comes on as Defensive Spread Game Analyst.

Chiefs wont sign Houston, keep Hali, and draft his replacement in round 1 of the 2015 draft.

Shouldn't be any major concerns.. certainly not at this point.

Mays (as stated) and Devito could be cap saving cuts. I'm leaning towards Avery being gone after this season. Think they will trust in a youngster with his similar skills (Albert!).

Rodney Hudson will need a new contract.

Bowe's contract is just disgusting! lol
DeVito is too vital to what we do, and we don't have an obvious replacement for him. DeVito (in my estimation) stays.

But, yeah, Mays makes sense.

I'm betting Dorsey inked Donnie Avery in 2013 expecting to cut him in 2015, which is why his contract was structured to make him a very cheap to cut in 2015. That's what Emmanuel Sanders was supposed to be all about. But Dorsey simply never had a plan B after Emmanuel Sanders ****ed him over. So I think we're stuck keeping Avery into 2015.

Hudson's going to walk. The team loves Eric Kush.

Bowe's contract is extremely lousy, yeah. It gets even worse in 2014, but he's not cuttable. He becomes cuttable in 2016, and extremely cuttable in 2017. Should we consider it.

But that's what happens when you have a team bent over a barrel because they can't successfully figure out what the hell to do at the WR position. It's honestly the same position we're in right now with Alex Smith.

No, they'll extend him and convert that salary to bonus, keeping a still productive player (11 sacks last year) while reducing his cap number.

Jeez, if people are going to talk salary cap they could at least try to understand it.

How old will Hali be next year?

The guy loves Kansas City and he loves playing with Justin Houston. It's possible he agrees to a cheap extension.

Then again, Atlanta's probably more than willing to pay Hali carte blanche. They aren't afraid of aging passrushers and he has an obvious connection there now.

DeVito is just a guy.

He's slightly more valuable than Tyson Jackson was.

A guy who shuts down the ****ing run better than anybody else on the roster.

He's a good player, and we have no obvious replacements for him. And we've drafted 1 good run stuffer in 15 years.

Edit: More like 3. But my point stands.

Don't ****ing care.

In a pass happy league, a one dimensional run stuffer is as useful a can of gas for an electric lawn mower.

We can't cut Avery because of the wr situation but we can cut Sean smith? Seems legit.
