VARSITY
How I see hot seats now we are just 2 weeks away

Already gone:

McAdoo

Locks:
Hue Jackson - No way he's keeping his job going 0-16. No ****ing way.

Chuck Pagano - lmao

Marvin Lewis - Both sides wanted this.

John Fox - lmao, again.

Dirk Kotetter - Totally blew a loaded roster. He's a lock.

High:

Bill O'Brien - Even with QB injury, this team should have performed better this year. The relationship with him and the team was already cold.

Vance Joseph - There's been talk that he's safe, but I wouldn't rule out Elway changing course. He's destroyed that franchise.

Bruce Arians - A total collapse and the team is facing a total rebuild. With a coach nearing 70? I'm hesitant.

Jay Gruden - A major downfall and the Redskins have been unusually patient lately. Bruce Allen will be looking for a fallguy.

Medium:

Jack Del Rio - Fired the wrong coordinator last year and bungled a lot of games this year. Last season was super and smoke and mirrors.

The only saving grace for him is a recent contract extension and a poor owner facing a major relocation fee.

John Harbaugh - He's not a lock to return if they don't make the playoffs.

Todd Bowles - He's done beyond expectations, but may not be the right guy for the rehaul.

Mike McCarthy - His saving grace was somehow making it to the playoffs every year. This year they will not make it and I think it's a toss up for Mike. Time is running out for Aaron and they are going in circles currently.

Jim Cladwell - Another blown season on the horizon with a great set up for them to win the North. Not good. His saving grace might be the amount of teams making a move will be real high, and the Lions may decide to wait.

Mild:

Adam Gase - He will need to have a major turn around in '18.

Mike Mularkey - The Titans were expected to storm the South and make some noise in the playoffs. Right now they may barely back in as a WC and be quickly eliminated. Pressure will be high if it's a quick exit or they don't make it.

Jason Garrett - Will need to figure out how to get things turned back in the right direction next year.

My guesses:
Pagano, Lewis, Arians, Joseph, BoB, Kotetter and McCarthy are gone.

He didn't toss it into the end zone hoping someone would get it. He fumbled. That's the actual football play. I don't care that it happened to the Raiders. I just don't like the rule.
Anywhere else on the field the recovery wouldn't result in points.

The NFL argues that because the defense is defending that literal strip of the field that if you lose the ball passed that line then the offense is responsible for recovering it, and if they don't, becomes the other teams ball. They essentially lost the ball behind enemy lines.

I don't really care for the rule that much myself although it also doesn't bother me that much either. Maybe the penalty could be greater than just going back to the spot. Maybe it goes back to the 20 like interceptions do for the defense.

I'm with you and I completely understand the spirit of the rule. I just don't enjoy games ending on rules such as this one. Maybe it's too nebulous of a concept, but I want physical play to determine the outcome. Stopped on 4th down, picked off, fumble recovered, TD, FG, etc. It was a rule that ended this game. It was essentially a rule that ended the Steelers game (less so because they still had a shot.)

To be clear, I'm not banging the drum to change the rule. I just personally think it could be better.

Sometimes sports rules do lose the context and spirit of the game. I personally would have enjoyed it if the fumble didn't happen and he was down but Lynch's penalty ended up screwing the Raiders since it still would have been enforced. That would have been hilarious.

The endzone touchback rule is fine. Take care of the football.

Rules don't change unless it affects Brady. If they lost because of one of the rules it would change.

It's a shiddy rule. But it's the rule.

Squeelers got screwed. That was a TD. Though the only good outcome of a Squeelers/Cheatriots game is a tie that ends with both starting QB's on IR.

Wasn't Ross Travis robbed of a touchdown vs. the steelers because of the same rule?

**** the Steelers. Yes, refs can take scores off the board, even Steeler scores.

We get it, but what if a WR does the same on an immanent interception? How about when they push-off to make the catch/prevent the interception. It pretty clear that the bias is towards the offense and adding scoring, we get it, but there's just a complete level of inequity when it come to PI.

Hell, if they make me king for a day I'm going to enact a rule that says they're have to be 5 down linemen, and they have to be down and motionless for at least two seconds before the snap. Oh, and that goes for the center too, look back all you want, but you have to have you be motionless with your head up for at least two seconds before the snap. It's not like the offense doesn't get the advantage of knowing the snap count, and the defense isn't prevented from trying to draw a false start with their own "hard count."
