Chiefs Trade G Rishaw Johnson to Buccaneers for S Kelcie McCray
http://nfltraderumors.co/chiefs-trad...kelcie-mccray/
Buccaneers HC Lovie Smith announced Thursday that they have traded S Kelcie McCray to the Chiefs in return for G Rishaw Johnson, per the Pewter Report. Johnson, 25, signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of California University of Pennsylvania. he was reportedly competing with rookie Zach Fulton for the Chiefs right guard position. There is no question the Buccaneers could use some extra depth at guard, which appears to be one of their biggest issues on their current roster. Last edited by TLO; 08-21-2014 at 01:08 PM.. |

tank, and use your draft picks. Stop cap strapping this team with a bunch of 28/29 year old veterans that provide nothing. Don't give a 29 year old WR 50 ****ing million. |

Someone smarter than I would have to look to be sure but I'm pretty sure none of the contracts handed out last year are any that hamstring the club after this year (ie keeping them from signing Houston or berry).
They could have structured contracts accordingly if they wanted to this offseason to get guys. The "no money" excuse is simply that. It doesn't really matter who they bring in as free agents in large part. It has been an always will be about drafting well and more importantly developing said draft picks. Up to this point we have no idea about this regimes ability to do te latter |

I don't think yanking last year was an option in terms of team PR. As much as that sucks

pretty sure if you cut Fasano you eat 2-4 million in dead money. As is the same for Sean Smith, Vance Walker, Joe Mays, Donnie Avery, etc. These 2 million in dead money stack and before you know it 10-12 million in dead money is against our cap for a full season all because we cut a bunch of JAGs. So the option is let them play out the duration of their contracts, or cut them and have a real down year. |

Trade the 1st overall for the best package you can get, even if you don't get market value because the draft sucks. Trade down early and often, and get as many picks as you can to build with. We ain't winning shit for at least 3 years from now with the approach that was taken.

I was thinking this as well. Stephenson looked serviceable at LT filling in for Albert and Fisher wasn't bad at RT towards the end of the season.

Thing is though, all of those guys you mentioned are serviceable players. The problem is that they are being asked to play bigger roles. As much as we'd like it to be, the roster won't be made up of 53 badasses. Even the Broncos/Pats/Seahawks have those types of guys. They're just down a slot on the depth chart. Thats where this year is going to be made or broken. If Albert Wilson and Hammond or whoever at WR are able to push Avery down to the 3rd WR, thats great. Same with Mays or Fasano or Smith. |

Compare that to if we drafted geno. By the way, I would have been okay drafting geno even at 1.1. That would have been a 3 year plan too, would it not? |

Yeah, let's see you purposefully tank seasons with your job on the line.

This was a quick fix, get butts in the seat 1 year plan, followed by a 2 year purge cap plan, followed by a 3 year build plan.

Geno Smith. You guys would be cussing the hell out of this FO even more if they took Geno and he played the way he did last year.

And while everybody brings up that Alex Smith was worth two 2nd rounders…. The truth is, if we assume that the Chiefs drafted Sheldon Richardson instead of Fisher, we'd be talking about Alex Smith + Sheldon Richardson, while passing up Geno Smith and a second round pick. For those who think we should have drafted Geno, we basically only gave up a second rounder for Smith. |

It was a mistake to make a push for the playoffs so goddamn soon. ****, it's hard to even believe Dorsey had playoffs on the brain after taking over a 2-14 team. In most circumstances the team would have improved to 8-8 or so, which seemed to be Dorsey's goal given the parameters of the Alex Smith trade. So he wanted to **** over our salary cap for one year of 8-8 and then fade into the distance with a cap-strapped team and very little in terms of star players? That was pure dumbassery. |

Instead, Dorsey took our car with a bad transmission, gave it a new coat of paint, and said, "Look! Good as new! She'll be running smooth for the next 5-6 years!" |
