Alex Smith will make Tom Brady/Manning/Brees/Rodgers look like Joey Harrington when the 2015 season is over.

This is a lazy take. I never said anything like this. Put the two QB's in a vacuum and Brees is the better QB. But one thing Smith is better at in my opinion is mobility. How many of those sacks that Brees took would Smith have escaped from? How many more sacks would Brees have took if playing behind Smith's line? Also, you guys are always bitching about the fact that Smith is just a dink and dunk QB. So a mobile QB, who most would credit his legs as a strength, who also passes the ball 80+% of the time within the first second to 2 seconds from the snap still gets crushed for a league high 44 times in 2014? In my opinion, Brees would not be able to operate in that situation. I don't really think any QB could. Russell Wilson may be the best candidate for that line.

Anyway... I still think Smith and a fixed line > than Brees and Chiefs 2014 line. Good night all.

Alex was tied for the 4th most sacked QB in 2014. Just an FYI.

This is a lazy take.

How many more times would Brees have climbed the pocket and delivered throws downfield rather than seeing ghosts and leaving functional pockets?

How many more times would Brees have hit open receivers vertically, therefore reducing the amount of plays required to move down the field and consequently, reducing the amount of chances to be sacked?

You ****ing Alex Smith fans disgust me. You're excessively ignorant and have to cherry-pick on a ridiculous level to prop up an average quarterback.

How many times would Brees have released the ball while Alex was pump faking his way into a sack?

Don't stop now, bust through and slough off that debonair facade.

This is what's hilarious. I've already posted All-22 stills and Clay's posted .gifs of this: Alex having a decent pocket and bailing or Alex having a decent pocket and not throwing to open players down the field.

It still doesn't ****ing matter.

No one is saying it never happens, you stupid shit. Every QB can get rattled and make poor decisions in the pocket. Brees had two elite OGs, so that he could step up into a pocket... Smith gets McGlynn and Fulton. Alright! that's ****ing wonderful!
