Alex missing reads

Just a few sample clips from the Steelers game.

First series with a little curl/flat concept. Slot sits right in the middle for a easy 5 yars, instead of forcing to JC.

Spoiler!

Next play, it doesnt look like Alex gets any depth on his sprint out. Conley comes free over the middle.

Spoiler!

Bottom of screen conley 1v1, gotta take that shot

Spoiler!

If alex keeps his eyes down field kelce is wide open

Spoiler!

I will add some more as I get more time.

Watching those it looks like Alex needs to get the ball out in about 1.75 seconds.

73 was only shoved 3 yards into the backfield so yeah I guess that would mean Alex should have rolled out 5 yards deep. Alex has a lot to improve on but so does our O line.

This is what really frustrates me. Once Alex hits the scramble button, he gets tunnel vision like a mofo.

On the bright side, at least he's not getting WRs killed with midfield throws.

My 11 year olds football coach does this at least 3 times a game. Left handed QB, rolls him out to the right. Dumbest play ever.

#73 does get pushed back but usually on sprint/half roll type plays the QB gains some extra depth first then turns up field a bit to square hips to target. Looks like he just runs parallel on that play.

Usually they roll/sprint to the wide side so there is more room for the routes to flood.

I understand that. But trying to make a throw like that is tough, especially for little kids.

True. At that level they aren't even really teaching footwork to the QB's yet.

Unfortunately, I'm to the point where I think Alex has peaked and doesn't have the balls to continue to improve while opposing defenses have it figured out how to stop him at the level he's playing at.

He's just too scared to pull the trigger on the plays top level QBs need to pull the trigger on.

Defenses are taking away his ability to run with the ball and are forcing him to play outside his comfort zone and he simply isn't responding.

He needs to be on a short leash after the bye week, but he won't be.
