If 2pac, Kurt Cobain, Selena were still alive today

Culture question because the culture today displays me as very sad, I don't like what I see in music.

I love 2pac and Selena. Kurt Cobain had great songs yes.

If they were still alive how massive big do you see they would be now? Would current culture love them like we did or is current culture stuck to garbage??

Can't wait for chiefs season, strike against all we will rise with Mahomes!!! Yes! Destruction to all teams in our path!!

Pitbull and Khaled will never be considered legends.
Khaled will be a legend because he’s gonna be known as the guy who went on a diet and did weight watchers for years and hasn’t lost shit yet!

You may have heard of Bidi Bidi Bom Bom or Dreaming of You, but she's more of a name in the Hispanic community.

If Cobain we’re still alive, I wonder if he would still be writing shitty music?
For a while, he cornered the whole “I got a guitar and learned to play it in 2 weeks and formed a band” guitarist.

Of all the grunge music back then, Nirvana/Cobain we’re by far the worst. STP/AIC/soundgarden etc.....so much better. I’ve NEVER understood the Nirvana worship, or Cobain. .

They were the first one to make it big, much to Cobain's detriment. Heroin did so much damage to that scene though that I don't think much would be different.

- Cobain was pretty talent-less. The producer, Butch Vig, made chicken salad out of chicken shit. Grohl would have left regardless, (notice how Krist Novoselic isn't a member of the Foo-Fighters). Again, I get if you were a kid you would think they were good but feh
- Selena wasn't that hot and had thick eybrows. She would have been replaced by Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, (after she fixed her eyebrows).

When I was a kid I loved Ghost Busters. I watched it after 30 years with my daughter and thought "meh".
Pitbull and DJ Khaled will be considered genius legends in 20 years. Music has taken a horrible turn.
From what I've heard about Cobain was that he pulled his punches for a certain style. He'd scream to throw out his voice for the vocal sound that he wanted. He wanted it to purposely appear raw. One story was that he was having trouble finding a drummer once. His mother suggested that he just use a machine. He told her that it would sound cheap, fake, and not what his goal was

So you're telling me that if that crazy lady hadn't shot Selena that JLo may have resorted to being in Penthouse?

These are fun. So what if there had never been a Narvarnar, a Selena, or a Pac? Smells Like Teen Spirit was just the right place and right time. They could've easily ended up just being another band from Seattle and sold what was at the time to be projected at around 50,000 units to be a success. And not exploded bringing a scene to national attention. AIC was already making their way, at least the members of PJ would've eventually found their way into being a serious rock success, and who knows if that would've been a mix of some of the guys from Soundgarden

Well, Mother Love Bone was the first to get some national attention. Though Andrew Wood ODed on heroin and died just before that. From that came Temple of the Dog and from Temple of the Dog came Pearl Jam. The Seattle scene was already getting some attention before Nirvana blew up. If not Nirvana I think AIC would of been the band that heralded in that sound.

That's right. Mother Love Bone had some great shit too. Plus they had their own sound of a little bit glam and a little bit grunge for a great style. It's a true shame that Wood died. They should've just plugged Cornell in there and kept on truckin'

Funny thread. People like Cobain and Tupac basically paved the way for the garbage music we have today.

You're right in a lot of ways. What year do you think that music died?

There’s still great music to be had. You just have to go find it now.

Soundgarden was already a band at that point and had released an album or two. Mother Love Bone eventually became Pearl Jam.
