Candylicious: Round 1, Heats 45 through 48

Here are the rules. This will be a head to head tournament. For efficiency's sake, I will run four heats in each thread.

Therefore, I will put up four pairs of candies. For each pair, you will identify the candy that you would most like to have at the moment of voting. It doesn't necessarily have to be your favorite candy overall, just the one that sounds good right now. For visualization purposes, you may assume that you're out trick or treating (dressed as a gladiator), and the woman at the door is offering you your choice of two options. You can only pick one, or if you would turn them both down, you can pick zero (not to be confused with the Zero bar).

So to summarize, you will vote for four candies in each thread, one candy per heat. And here they are!

Heat 45: Blow Pop vs. Charleston Chew

Heat 46: Candy Cigarettes vs. Cordial Cherries

Heat 47: Nut Goodie vs. Dove Candy Bar

Heat 48: Tootsie Pops vs. Whatchamacallit

My votes:

Charleston Chew over Blow Pops. I'm not exactly thrilled to pick Charleston Chew, but it's got chocolate-like stuff and blow pops don't.

Cordial Cherries over Candy Cigarettes. Honestly, I should probably pick neither of these, but cordial cherries can be okay if done well. I have a memory of eating a terrible candy cigarette as a child, or it's possible that I ate chalk thinking it was a candy cigarette. But either way, it put me off candy cigarettes for good.

Dove Bar over Nut Goodie. Honestly, the Nut Goodie could be great. But I don't really know what it is from the packaging, so I'll go with the Dove Bar as a safe bet. I know those are good.

Tootsie Pops over Whatchamallit. Aside from not liking the Whatchamajiggerthingie name, it looks like a power bar to me. It doesn't look like candy. Meanwhile, Tootsie Pops taste pretty good on the outside and have a Tootsie Roll on the inside. What's not to like?

Clarification, please. The Dove photo shows a dark chocolate bar. Are we voting narrowly on dark chocolate Dove rather than broadly on all varieties of the Dove brand?

I still to this day cannot believe anyone ever thought candy cigarettes were a good idea. But I voted for them anyway.

For me Tootsie pops are the Pong of candy, gets my vote for the enduring legacy. Candy cigarettes are a gateway for orally fixated 8 year olds, Bad stuff. The rest I don't know, but that Nut Goodie = would.

Fun fact: Tootsie Pops were first made in 1931; it takes 700 licks to get to the tootsie part.

Yeah, I'm really curious about that myself. Were the cigarette companies involved at all, or was it completely done by candy companies that thought it was a fun gimmick? I have no idea.

I wasn't into candy cigarettes at all, but I liked the bubble gum cigars.

Charleston Chew. Don't really care for CC, but Blow Pops... Blech.

Cordial Cherries. Love these things. Candy cigarettes basically suck.

Dove. Dove dark chocolate is tasty.

Whatchamacallit. I do love Tootsie Pops (especially orange and chocolate), Whatchamacallits are one of my favorite candy bars.

I think we should vote on them when they're at their peak instead of how the older ones appear now when everything sags a little and they don't have that youthful luster.

You like candy cigarettes but not Dove Chocolate?

Well, I guess that's why we play the games.
