FREE: Chiefs Coat Autographed by Tony Gonzalez

Well boys, you all have provided me with a lot of entertainment over the years, even though I don't post too much. I'd like to give something back.

I'm cleaning out my closet, and I have a gift for a member of the Planet.

While I've enjoyed this season, I find that I'm not nearly as rabid of a fan as I used to be. I doubt I ever will be, and that's actually a good thing (for me, at least). I detailed that evolution at some length here, if it really matters: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=280405

Anyway, I'll cut to the chase: I have a Chiefs coat that I got autographed by Tony Gonzalez and Derrick Alexander. It's in pretty good shape--a little bit of dirt here and there from normal wearing, but if you toss it in the wash it should come out as good as new.

The zip-off hood was lost years ago.

I'm giving this coat away. I'd like to ask the Planet to pick one long-time member, and I'll send it to them. Postage is on me.

Just a few guidelines, if I may:

1. I would like for it to go to someone who has been around for a while. While all the new members who have signed up with the recent on-field success are, I'm sure, wonderful people, the Planet has been something of a longtime home for me. I've literally been here since day one.

I don't know how I'd have gotten through grad school without having a place to come waste time and decompress. So, I'd like to give back to someone who has helped make it that way. I'm not going to set a date and say that the recipient must have been around as of that point; I'll leave it up to you guys.

2. I would like for it to go to someone who may not be able to afford much for Christmas. While my financial status is fine now, it seems like it wasn't all that long ago that I was struggling just to make ends meet. I know what it's like to wonder how you're going to get by, and I'd like to try to help someone who might not otherwise have a very good Christmas.

I don't know how you all want to do this, whether it's through a nomination and voting process, or just a general discussion, or what. I'll leave that up to you.

I’m too busy to closely monitor the discussion, as I’m running into peak season for my job. So I'll just ask SAUTO or one of the other mods to pm me once the selection has been made. Send me the recipient's name and address, and I'll pop this in the mail.

My son!

He is a life-long Chiefs for all his 26 years!

A Chiefs-Raiders game was on while the wife, doc and I were watching in the birthing-room waiting for things to progress. He was born during the victory.

He is hardcore and understands the rivalries; hates the Donks rightfully so and the Raiders, our historical rivals.

He would do it proud and with a true understanding of the sport.

This prompted a great quote from long ago Raiders coach John Madden after the 42-10 loss at Arrowhead.

"We couldn't beat the Chiefs, but we damn near killed their horse."

I saw some chief fan wearing one of these at the raider game a few weeks ago and was pretty torn up around the white and gold area on both arms. The Marty Ball Days.
