Rowdy Roddy Piper Dead at 61

http://www.tmz.com/2015/07/31/roddy-...estler-cancer/

Wrestling legend "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has died at the age of 61... TMZ Sports has learned.
Piper -- born Roderick George Toombs -- died from cardiac arrest in his sleep at his home in Hollywood at around noon Friday.
Piper was a wrestling icon -- one of the biggest stars in the WWE back in the '80s, and even wrestled in "Wrestlemania I" back in 1985 ... squaring off against Hulk Hogan and Mr. T.
Roddy's rep tells us, "I am devastated at this news."
"Rod was a good friend as well as a client and one of the most generous, sincere and authentic people I have ever known. This is a true loss to us all."
Piper had been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2006, but last November he said he was cancer free.
Roddy was admitted into the WWE Hall of Fame back in 2005 and was one of the top 50 villains in the history of the WWE .
Piper had a long relationship with WWE -- last wrestling back in 2008 ... but appeared on various WWE shows up until 2014.
Roddy is survived by his wife Kitty and their 4 kids -- including 3 daughters and son Colton who's pursuing a career in professional wrestling.
The death is especially shocking considering we spoke We just spoke to him on Friday and asked his opinion about the Hulk Hogan scandal.

He was one of those guys that would heel out and go off on his own tagent. I miss when wresting was a little less scripted and more unpredictable. Too cookie cutter and corporate for me these days

Piper was hands down my favorite... used to love watching Piper's Pit.

Agree that They Live was vastly underrated (Momma don't like tattle-tales); if you've never seen it, check out Hell Comes to Frogtown... hilarious!

This is immediately what I thought of.

After seeing this I thought for sure he'd be the next big action star. No, he wasn't an excellent actor but he was as good or better than Ah-nold at the time. And that was back when a horror/sci-fi movie actually had a point and social commentary.

Then...nothing...

It really does. It's awful. I started watching in the early 80s until the late 90s.

There are no good, entertaining personalities now like there was back then.

Ric Flair was hilarious on WCW on TBS in the late 80s. I hated him when I was a kid, but watching it now kills me. YOU GOTTA BE THE MAN, TO BEAT THE MAN!

The only reason he even went into acting was to get SAG insurance for his family.
