Alexander Douglas Smith: 2016

We wouldn't we want to roll out another Alex Smith thread?!?!? Listen, for the Clay haters, this will probably be the thread that gets him banned. He can't help himself, right? Let's go!!!

First off, as many of you know, I have been very critical of Alexander Douglas Smith. Wasn't happy with the trade, HATED the extension, and have burned him to the ground from the beginning. So ****ing sick of the retread QB's.

So, that said Alex Smith is my Daddy. I mean, I just have to own that at this point. Here's why. He's never had continuity in a system. That guy had a new offensive coordinator just about every year until Jim Harbaugh showed up. And he flashed a little bit. That said, it sure looks like San Fran traded their best QB to us in favor of some douche that's starting some thing all over the league, while riding the bench to a guy named Blaine Gabbert.

Alex is now in his 4th year of the same system and it's showing. He's getting better. Why is he my daddy now all of a sudden though? Because he proved that he's more than just a game manager. He made some ****ing incredible throws against the Chargers last week. The back shoulder Maclin throw, the Maclin throw where Jeremy was almost killed, The Spencer Ware throws. Twice he hit him downfield (like, way more than 8 yards!), and then finally the Kelce throws.

People can give Spencer Ware a lot of credit, he is deserving of it after the monster game he had. Make no mistake about it though, Alexander Douglas Smith personally put this team on his back and willed them to victory. 1 play at a time. 1 throw at a time. He's a leader, and it reflected in the locker room after that game. They trust Alex now. They trust that he has what it takes to will them to victory in any game.

Alex isn't just a game manager anymore. He's a game changer, and a leader. This team could go 6-10 this year and I'll say the same thing. He has the ability and he's proven it. Now let's see where they go with it. I'm officially a YUGE Alex fan. What do you think? I'll take your comments off air.

Smith certainly didn't play good yesterday and was unusually inaccurate on a number of throws, but he also made plenty of good passes too that had they been caught or not fumbled, would have made an impact. To say "Maclin and Kelce had to jump every time the ball came their way" is BS.

Receivers dropping well thrown passes which halted drives, center hiking ball over smith's head which halted a drive, lineman jumping off sides and other penalties halting drives, receivers and backs fumbling the ball and halting drives and certainly Smith - not being sharp - halted drives. It was a total offensive team suck fest.

The Chiefs are usually pretty good at taking care of the football, the line isn't typically going to be going up against Watt and Clowney, Smith will much more often than not be accurate, Maclin will probably not continue drop easy catches - etc. The Chiefs offense self-destructed yesterday... it wasn't that the Texans D was too much. Just about every bad thing that can happen to the offense happened. And they still only lost by 7! I'm more encouraged by the defense than worried about the offense after yesterdays game.

Broadcast said Maclin DNP on Friday because of a personal matter. He might have some distraction that explains his performance. Or, he just had an off game. Alot of them did. hopefully they got it out of the way early. Chiefs need to beat the Jets with Pittsburgh looming around the corner.

Sums it up.

Everyone on offense including Alex Smith sucked yesterday. They made way to many mistakes. They lost the game because of that.

Agreed. Just makes the come-back win week 1 all the more important. Much easier to brush off a loss at 1-1 than it is when you are sitting at 0 - 2. Forget about Houston - need the win this weekend.

Here's my worry.

After the Patriots game, didn't we all say something similar? "Guys were hurt, offense was out of sync, road game against a tough opponent.....and we still only lost by a single possession!!! Progress!"

Yeah, fine, whatever. That's your 'progress' game of the season. Stop that shit and start winning games like this. The Broncos have won 2 of them now; ugly games where they found a way to get it done. The Chiefs managed to steal one against SD but they'd better not let any more of these get away. 'Progress' isn't staying close against good teams when you have a shitty day. 'Progress' is having way fewer shitty days.

To be fair, didn't the Patriots ALSO say the same thing [except the 'only lost by' part] when we wiped the floor with them a couple years back?

How did that turn out?

I know Ware fumbled, but how can people stand behind this "everyone on offense sucked yesterday" idea when our running backs were ripping off 7.38 yards per carry?

Seemed to me it was simply the passing game that sucked.

I only watched once, but I didn't get the feeling that our running game was just gashing them for 7 yards a carry. I think that stat might be a bit misleading from a couple of long runs. For the most part, seemed like backs were getting stuffed at or near the line of scrimmage for short gains if any. Like I said though, I only watched once and that was just general impression. Run was getting stuffed and passes were either off the mark or they were dropped. Add fumbles and 77 yards in penalties to that and you have a 19 to 12 loss.

Knile Davis has no place on this roster. Hill has taken over KRs and he even had a carry yesterday, where Davis didn't. Get him the **** off of this roster.

What percentage of the yards came on draws by Ware on third and forever, stopped short of the 3rd down marker?

He had at least 2 of hose that I recall and it seems like more.
