What are your Great/Bad Movie Theater Experiences?

I love movies at the movie theater. Especially the Alamo Drafthouse. They run a theater the way it should be run, which is fun and goofy, instead of like AMC. I used to manage a couple of theaters, and I tried to make it as fun as possible for our patrons.

Ok, so there is a reason for this thread. I saw Zero Dark Thirty in the theater but I have just re-watched it on U-verse. I had a weird experience at the theater....but first my worst experience.

I saw Passion of the Christ at AMC Commons. For whatever reason, my theater was packed with African American women. They yelled at the screen through the whole thing, and more than half of them did not even know the bible references, so they thought they could ask the movie screen. Well, that is not the movie for watching with people yelling at the screen. Bad Experience.

So, that brings me back to Zero Dark Thirty. I saw this at the AMC Commons as well. My theater was sold out. During the movie it was as loud as you would expect 300 people to be at the movies. Then comes the part where they are on their way to the compound in the Black Hawks. The theater was dead silent. It sounded like it was an empty theater. There was not a sound again in the theater until the credits started. It was unbelievable. Great Experience.

To the point of the thread:

Best experience was watching the original Terminator in a theater with Walter Day on the south side of Chicago. People were screaming at the screen from the first frame. Bonus: This was the first and only time I ever went to a theater that showed cartoons before the feature.

Worst experience was going to see Robocop 2 - we were 5 minutes late and the usher sent us to the theater where it was 90 minutes in, instead if the one that was 5 minutes in. After like 20 minutes the movie was over and we were all like WTF...

Best for me was seeing Nosferatu and Metropolis with a live orchestra. What an experience.

One time I saw Hollow Man in the theater with a date. There was one other couple in the theater. At some point I notice the girl wasn't around for quite some time. I felt bad for the guy and thought she may have ditched him, until I got up to go to the bathroom and noticed she was enthusiastically giving him head.

Black people get a bad reputation for talking during the movies, but one demographic that doesn't know when to shut the **** up it's elderly people.
My favorite time to go to the movies is in the middle of the day, on a weekday or Sunday afternoons. You'd think those would be ideal conditions for an enjoyable movie going experience but I always get a couple of fossils who find seats behind me and talk through the whole ****ing movie. Damn near ruined it for me when I saw Nebraska!
