Need advice on cutting cable cost.

My last bill from Att was $215...sick of paying that much to watch only a few shows. I dont want to cut the cord from cable entirely. I would like to keep basic cable and internet, but still be able to watch the shows I like on HBO and showtime. I`m already a netflix subscriber, any other suggestions ? Can you buy season passes for most of the shows on HBO and Showtime?

Thanks!

I agree except for music. Unlike movies, there hasnt been a lot of exclusivity in music streaming. I have stopped pirating music completely. spotify, google music and pandora make it more convenient than pirating and moving my music from device to device. The cloud is wonderful.

I wish the movie industry would get on board and stop with these exclusive deals for streaming rights. It fractures the industry and I just end up pirating it instead of subscribing to Hulu, Netflix, Crackle and the others.

Anyone having issues with Sportsdevil lately? I'm on fire tv box and have uninstalled the app, and did a fresh install of Kodi. Don't get any errors, the stream just doesn't play.

is it the most updated version: https://seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-man...devil-on-xbmc/

also updating your librtmp will help play streams as well. http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Update_librtmp

Go buy a Nvidia Shield if you are staying on wifi. it is cheaper.

I have had success buying a 6 month sub to Real Debrid and it has made using Genesis much easier. Much less buffering using those premium streams. However, if the link is dead, it will not prevent that. it was like $17 and well worth it.

sideload firestarter as it makes jumping to Kodi really easy. I gave up on TVMC because it was ass. They stopped updating it at 14.2 because the code was so ****ed. Go get SPMC or the real android version from kodi.org and install it with addon installer and you will be happy.

As a cordcutter, it is blowing my mind how much high def live tv networks are out there on these addons. I was so pissed at DirecTV for never getting the Pac-12 networks, and yet I can get all 7 networks in 1080p on multiple websites.
Well the thing is I have ran Kodi (Genesis) on my laptop without lag or buffering issues at 1080p and it's on wifi also.

With that in mind and the massive input lag, I think the stick is rather limiting.

One of the interesting aspects of OTA antenna NFL, is I'm watching the NFC on CBS Channel 5. (Bears/Rams from STL). On FOX4 I'm getting GB/DET.

I'm not really sue why I'm getting two NFC games with once of th NFC games playing on CBS, but it beats a 3 hour St Jude's hospital infomercial.

It's tough to figure out the why and when of when they do that, but that's just what's on those channels today - nothing unique about OTA vs. cable.

Aeon MQ6 skin has released for Kodi. Pretty much the same as MQ5, but now blue and much more customizable widgets. Of course they are confusing as hell and I am not sure if it is worth updating your skin but it is an option.

Man, I'm going to have to review this thread.

I'm loving this. Mainly because it's so much money saved. I love having no uverse account.

It was awkward as we have now have to be home to watch any favorites, unless you wait for them to become available in Hulu or whatever service.

I'm going to have to review how to record programs. What I'll need to do it. That sort of thing.

That's where KODI comes in. Almost any episode will be available within 24 hrs of airing. Sometimes it only takes a couple hours with popular shows. Episodes are aired earlier in different time zones.

For me this works great. For my wife? ....gah. If a stream doesn't come up or it buffers, she feels th episode is kind ruined.

Teaching her how to find streams is like teaching petegez baseball.

Yep blows my mind. My wifes best friend fell in love with my Kodi setup. Asked me to set it up on her families firetv stick. Sure, why not. She loves it, her mother loves it. But her ****stick of a brother bitches and moans about the buffering or links being dead.

The price is free...

OK,

So I finally had some time to look this over. It turns out that MY Insignia tv doesn't have an optical in/output, and LG sound bar has ONLY an optical output. So I guess I'll need some kind of converter for the optical.
