What's the worst job you ever had?

Mine was hauling small square bales of hay. It is hot, often over 100 degrees in the barn. You have to wear a long sleeved shirt or your arms will get bloodied. And it is damn hard work. Bales of alfalfa can weigh up to 90 pounds. No way I could do it today.

What year was that and what furniture company, I use to work at Jantzens in KCK.

I worked at a plastic bag factory. Try standing at the end of a conveyor waiting for a counter to hit 50, then fold and box the trash bags for 8 hours. **** THAT. I lasted a week... you would HAVE to be stoned out of your mind just to NOT go crazy. I would live under a bridge before I did that again.

2...

HR Block Seasonal employment and the one I'm in now...

Can't stand micromanaging and this is turning into a micromanaging sweat shop.
Doing what I used to do at Sprint, There was A TEAM of us that usually did a max of 4-5 software packages a week (2-3 was the norm). Now I'm turning out 1-3 a day and she's wondering why I can't do more.

Our lil Napoleon Mgr, doesn't understand that these things take time as I've spoiled them with quick turn-arounds in the past.

So in between compiling and working on my packages I use the Internet. Now that's being monitored and she wants a status report on Inet usage over the last month from all of her emps under her. Gave us the thumb drives to decipher. This is RIGHT AFTER she blurts out, "she doesn't want any negativity around". SHE'S THE ONE CREATING IT!

I explained to her that during compiling my scripts or whatever, I habitually search the Net. She offers another Computer on top of the 3 I already have at my desk. So now instead of surfing the Net, I find myself pacing. My co-workers wonder what the hell's wrong with my pacing and I tell them that's what I've resorted to since Big Brother is all over it.

She doesn't understand that giving me another machine would be the same as asking a writer to switch between pieces instead of giving one piece the attention it deserves. Packaging can become very confusing very quick.

Needless to say, I've been toying more and more of actually tattooing full time as I'm starting to really hate my job.

Selling subscriptions to the KC Star door to door (high school summer job long ago). Of course, we were always in the worst neighborhoods because people were transient in those locations, so there were alot of non-subscribers. I also suck at selling, so that didn't help.

Small baled hay, I ran a crew, corn de-tasseling, setting up concrete foundation forms, pouring it, and taking them down was a pain in the butt as well.

I hauled plenty of hay when I was in my teens, but that wasn't my worst job. My worst job would have to be the janitor's job my Dad got me when I was 15. I had to clean the bathrooms/breakrooms in a couple factories and office buildings. That sucked, but I guess it was probably good for my character.

Done that too ....... I was scared of heights, that didn't help. Rough end carpenter, walking around on the inner 2x4 walls wasn't my bag of tricks.

I've worked as a janitor, a stocker at a grocery store and at a warehouse before, so I've had my share of grungy and hard work, but my worst job was as a cleaner at Royals Stadium.

Back in the early '90's when the Royals were still good and packing the stadium I decided to try working on the clean-up crew as a second job one summer. I lasted one night. We had to sweep all of the garbage from the seats to the aisles then down to the landings to be bagged and dragged out to the dumpsters.

Popcorn and especially sunflower shells would stick to the ground because of spilled beer and pop and we would have to sweep that out and use a scraper to get any gum. After this someone would come in with a giant hose and power spray all of the rest of the stuff into the aisles which we had to sweep up and throw into garbage bags.

I ended up with blisters on my hands which popped while trying to sweep up the sunflowers and popcorn. Then the open wounds were soaked in muck while getting the wet garbage into bags. I had to toss my shoes because they filled up with a mixture of beer, pop and garbage sludge which stunk.

After that one night, I vowed to never take that job again. Instead I got extra overtime work in a hot warehouse which was preferable.

We had the buddy system working, so this other guy and me (both suburban white kids) ended up in a really nasty neighborhood in KCK. We decided to bolt after hearing "what are their kind doing here" a couple of times then hearing what we assumed was a gun racking behind a door.

Worked one summer on a work-over rig. Basically went around to oil wells and changed out pumps, which required pulling thousands of feet of rods to get to the pump. Sometimes we would have to pull tubing also, if there was a leak. Working the floor completely sucked, as you would basically be covered with crude all day long. Worked from sun-up to sun-down. Although the work sucked, I made good money for a college kid, got in really good shape, and I suppose it did build some character.
