Yeah, he's 2 preseason games in coming off shoulder surgery. He's never played a regular season snap at left tackle. We have to at least give him a half season. I'm more interested in how much he learns and grows than how he plays right off the bat.

Eh, I think he's clearly favoring it and trying to compensate for the lack of power from his arm by leaning forward on the defender, which makes it easier for them to beat him, especially when he doesn't have the strength in that arm to even hold them.

IMO, his bum shoulder led to a lot of his technical problems last year, this pre-season he looks like he's still in the process of getting his strength back and fixing the bad habits that he developed from having that injury.

Agreed. And I think everyone agrees that with a healthy shoulder he would have benefited big time from a full strength offseason conditioning program. For this year, I just want him to improve his technique.

Everybody acknowledges it was a bad pick. So yes, once we acknowledge it was a bad pick our only concern should be 'can he start'?

IMO, depends on the quality of the prospects in that particular draft. 2013 just wasn't a very strong draft at the top. It's very telling when people said that the best prospects of 2013 would have gone no earlier than somewhere outside of the top 10 of the 2014 draft. It was a really shitty draft to have the #1 overall pick in.

I have yet to see Fisher display even a hint of raw talent that would suggest all he needs is more experience.

Thats a bullshit excuse.

There are good players in every draft. It's the Gm's job to find them. Our GM, up to this point, looks like he failed with the 1.1 pick.

Guys like Sheldon Richardson, Star, and Kenny Vacarro were in the draft at positions of need. There were good players, apparently we just didn't get one.

Fisher improved steadily last year. He was passable by years end. A lot of his problems this year are technique and compensating for his shoulder, both of which can be fixed or resolve itself. But yeah, if we keep evaluating him based on where he was drafted, he will never truly earn the starting job in everyone's eyes.

Also, on Fisher's struggles so far.

He was coming off of two surgeries and spent the vast majority of his off-season away from full contact. What does this mean?

1. Fisher was held out of a lot of 1 on 1 pass protection drills (chance to work his tech) and also team drills this off-season because he was recovering.

2. Mentally and physically, he hasn't really had a chance to fix the poor habits that he developed from favoring his injured shoulder last season because of reason #1.

Is it any wonder why he looks like he is struggling when he has to face the likes of Carlos Dunlap and Greg Hardy coming off of very limited reps in the off-season?
