How good, exactly, is Branden Albert.
Here's a list of the starting left tackles from last year, according to NFL.com:
Nate Solder (Patriots) D'Brickashaw Ferguson (Jets) Jake Long (Dolphins) Cordy Glenn (Bills) Bryant McKinnie (Ravens) Max Starks (Steelers) Andrew Whitworth (Bengals) Joe Thomas (Browns) Anthony Castonzo (Colts) Eugene Monroe (Jaguars) Michael Roos (Titans) Duane Brown (Texans) Branden Albert (Chiefs) Ryan Clady (Broncos) Michael Harris (Chargers) Jared Veldeer (Raiders) Will Beatty (Giants) Tyron Smith (Cowboys) Trent Williams (Redskins) King Dunlap (Eagles) J'Marcus Webb (Bears) Marshall Newhouse (Packers) Jeff Backus (Lions) Matt Kalil (Vikings) Jerman Bushrod (Saints) Donald Penn (Buccaneers) Jordan Gross (Panthers) Sam Baker (Falcons) Joe Staley (49ers) Levi Brown (Cardinals) Russell Okung (Seahawks) Roger Saffold (Rams) You want to call Branden Albert a top 10 LT? Then list specifically where he lands in this list. Keep in mind, we're probably going to have at least three new ones next year in Bryan Bulaga (Packers), Mike Adams (if he can beat out Starks in Pittsburgh), Luke Joeckel (whomever drafts him) and Eric Fisher (same). |

He's top 5 to me...top 7 minimum.
Only Staley, Thomas, Kalil, Clady, and Long are in the same conversation in my book. |

Who gives a flying **** if he is top 15, top 10 or top 5?
It doesn't matter how he compares to other LTs on other teams. He is the best offensive lineman on the Chiefs. It's not even close. He has a higher value to the Chiefs because he's one of the few offensive positions that you don't have to worry about. Who is better than Albert on offense? Charles and maybe Bowe? You don't dump one of your top 3 offensive players when you have dog crap behind and around him.

All things being equal (money, health) I'd rather take:
Ferguson Long Roos Clady Thomas Penn Gross Whitworth Okung I'd say he's about on par with: McKinnie Kalil Beatty D. Brown Bushrod Staley Joeckel I'd rather have him then: Solder Glenn Starks Castonzo Monroe Harris Veldeer Smith Dunlap Webb Newhouse Backus Baker L. Brown Saffold Bulaga Adams Fisher |

Joeckel hasn't played a snap in the NFL and he's already on par with Albert? Come on, now that is bullshit.

If you put Brandon Albert on Texas A&M this past year, he would have similarly dominated. |

That question actually can be answered, and probably will be in about five months. Joeckel's athleticism, measureables, and level of domination at college level projects very comfortably to being an above average LT in the NFL. |

My point is next year Joeckel will get his ass handed to him it took Albert 3 years to be LT he is now. Joeckel doesn't have near the athletic ability that Albert has so what you see the next two years is as good as it's going to get when it comes to overall growth and potential.
