Gordon has been shit going on just about a full season now. I'm really afraid this is the Gordon we get now. This is now the hitter he is.

Can't win with that shit. It's why we've been relying on homers to do a lot of our scoring, and that's always a recipe for disaster.
Gordon is the only major concern. He is looking like a disaster. He should at least be dropped in the order. Batting lead-off is a joke. Hopefully him being on the roster at all is not the real question in play.

We're about to Peter O'Brien Raul Mondesi. It was upsetting watching Chump Hale continually put O'Brien in situations to fail last year in AZ. With each strike out, he grew less and less confident. Eventually the D'backs just gave up on him. It's pretty clear to anyone with eyes that Mondesi can't hit major league pitching. He's continuing to fail and that is not a good way to build up confidence. Our own experience with Gordon and Moose should show that some time in Omaha would do this kid a world of good.

Let's not get too carried away. Letting Mondesi hit there wasn't like leaving Aaron Crow in the game too long or something. It's not like Ned made some kind of fireable offense. It's not his fault the veteran players aren't hitting. They aren't kids any more, they have to show up and deliver.

Maybe the offense turns it around tonight against Buamgarner

It absolutely is like leaving Crow in too long. He's putting a player in a situation in which he's in over his head, and not putting the team in the best position to win.

You're treating this like it's an either/or situation when it's BOTH. Mondesi is hurting the team by being completely overmatched, AND Hosmer (and Gordon, and to a degree, Moss) is not producing like he should be. But even if the vets get their shit together, you simply can't play a guy hitting .114, let alone allow him to twice hit with the game in the line.

Makes you wonder how much freedom Ned feels he has to pinch hit for Mondesi in certain situations like last night.

But for Mondesi, Moore stated: "When we left Spring Training, a lot of his development was going to be at the Major League level. With this group of players, it's more condusive to his long-term success...As long as he's doing every single night to help us win a game, stealing second, third... making unassistted double plays, ranging... that's all I'm concerned about right now."

Hosmer is going to lose a ton of money this season. Moose is going the other way. I want Moose, followed by Cain, then Hosmer. DH/1b has been going pretty cheap. He isn't worth the 15-18M he will try to command over 5-6 years.
