The question for me is not what Alex Smith is worth, it's what the development of Mahomes is worth. What value do you put on the smooth, successful development of Patrick Mahomes? Is a 1st round pick worth risking that?

If the Chiefs are 5-5 they should replace Alex. The Chiefs are too good to be that. This is Alex's last season. Then Mahomes takes over next year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

People underestimate how valuable Mahomes having the entire year to learn is. Mahomes is going to be a stud. But he needs this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

As exciting as Mahomes is, I'd like to see him have the compliment of Andy's full playbook before he's forced out there. I'm comfortable with Smith for at least half a season until the kid gets a better command of the offense.

The Anti-Chief? That's about the dumbest statement I've read here in a long time. And Clay has made 1000000 of them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Setting up the punter would be the all time dumbest thing ever said on CP. Probably ties fixing the defense, not touching the offense...

Trade him before the draft next year to a team that needs a QB but doesn't have a top 10 pick.

That brings up them taking Elvi Grrbach off our hands. He was a tumor.

I'm honestly shocked that almost all of you are turning down what is very likely a Top 5 pick for Alex Smith. JAX and BUF might not COMBINE for 7 wins.
I get it, we'd all like to have Mahomes sit for a year and learn. But playing him isn't going to ruin him. He's not David Carr. He has a solid OL, good coaching and weapons all around him. This is a 8-11 win team regardless of who the QB is, IMO. To add a Top 5 pick to a solid, young nucleus? Sign me up. (will never happen) |
