Living in Phoenix Arizona

Me and my wife are planning on moving to Phoenix sometime this year. I was wondering if you could tell me the best places to live there. We are just tired of the weather in Kansas City and want out. We can deal with the blistering heat.

It's a "dry heat" - very different. It's not that bad actually. Course I've lived in Texas all my life so I'm very used to the heat.

Yep. I've been there too. Used to travel a LOT when I worked for Six Flags and frequently made stops in Tucson. That's where I experienced my first "evaporative cooling porch" and saw how hardly nobody had grass in their front yards. Got used to both after awhile.

You get used to it. With a pool and ac, it's really not an issue. It is weird, however, in July and August when it's 100 at midnight or later

I worked in Bangkok for a few weeks and it would be like 90 degrees at 8 in the morning and 80-85 and humid late at night... similar here a couple of summers ago when we had lows of 80 and it would be 85 at 8 or 9am.

Don't think I'd mind the heat at all, but the 70-75 lows in the summer here provide some nice relief. Long stretches of that kind of heat would probably suck after a while (for me, anyway).... but, I guess having the AC on for 3 straight months isn't much different than the 2-3 months of constant cold here in the winter and plus the long heat waves in the summer.

Exactly. Plus we go to San Diego and it's 65 degree summer nights for at least 3-4 days every summer month so with a break like that it's totally manageable

My pool is sitting at 69 degrees right now which feels pretty damn cold, even when it's 90+. 100-115 isn't bad when you've got a pool. Plus once you go back into the house after swimming, you can bump the AC up because it feels cold in the house.

I've also got solar panels on my roof that cover between 75-85% of my electric in the 3 hottest months, and it fully covers my electric bill the rest of the year. Not too mention getting money back if I use less than I produce.

Stilling looking at 30's here at night. Still better than humidity.

Anthem is a nice community that I haven't seen mentioned here. There are so many different areas. As was mentioned, if you don't work from home you need to figure out your commute. This place is huge and traffic is a bitch.

Don't rent if you can help it. Now it's a good time to buy...
