Yes - or as close to live as you can get online. There's typically a delay of a minute or two due to buffering and such.
If it's at all unclear, all you're doing is subscribing to the equivalent of NFL Sunday Ticket online, but this system is aimed at international audiences rather than U.S. residents. |

I am just going to throw this out there... after a little over a week now on XBMC.. it sucks ass. SO many links are broken, nothing is live, everything is international etc.
Ill just stick with hulu and netflix and pirate streams and call it a day. |

Which addon are you experiencing this with? Some are better than others, of course. I've found that Genesis seems to be the most reliable for the all-encompassing media experience (television AND movies).

Navii X, Phoenix, and some of the other addons, I agree with you on. They're pretty close to worthless.

Picked up a used Fire TV for $45 today - score. Now, to figure out what to do with this thing. Going to read through this thread once I get a chance, but is there a Cliffs Notes version?

What I should do with it? I'm literally starting from zero knowledge on what all can be done with this, so looking for "the cord cutters dream", if you will. Access to content, recommended applications/config, SPMC vs TVMC, etc. Some of that may become apparent as I start to dig into this, just haven't had a chance yet, having just picked up the box.
If RTFM is the response, so be it, lol. |

I have found Kodi is pretty much worthless, a simple google search (and a few bookmarks) nets me what im looking for in high quality 99% of the time, streamed from Chrome to my Chromecast with no issues.

I love Kodi. don't know how anyone wouldn't find it convenient as hell.

If you don't mind being a little more in the grey area of legality, Kodi can be installed on a Fire TV and will give you access to all sorts of free stuff. It's a little more clunky, and some of the channels might not work as hometeam has said, but there's no question that you can find a mountain of content using it. Those are the basics. After that, it's just a matter of exploring until you find stuff that you like. |

KODI is used by millions of people worldwide. It searches the exact same sources you're talking about and sorts them in a more efficient way. And you don't need another computer to "Cast" from. Drastically reducing bandwidth by reducing the number of devices and network traffic. If KODI doesn't work for you, then you're probably doing something wrong.

Also I already have a house full of PC's, so I dont need to buy another device to run the system. I have gigabit WAN and LAN, (less on wireless of course, about 300mb/s) so bandwidth is not a problem either. |
