Great weekend. My one and only complaint was the aids parade getting into State Farm stadium. Took nearly 1.5 hours to get parked. **** all that color coded parking. When I finally got to the lot there was a gazillion open spaces. Just a total bottleneck due to residential stoplight cadence and 50K cars on the street. Made the parking crew at Arrowhead look like a well oiled machine.
That's it though, loved every other minute of the Kingdom taking over the desert. |

I enjoyed the stadium. Easy to get in/out of (once parked), was comfortable on a 100+ degree day, and Cards fan seemed to be a friendly, yet indifferent bunch.
It was my first domed football game so that was kind of unique. The problem seemed to be that the stadium itself is somewhat in a residential area. So you had regular ol Sunday afternoon traffic light cadence with an influx of gameday volume. So sitting at stoplights with like 4 cars making it through on a green arrow. On top of that, the lots are color coded, so if you had green per se you were directed to the other side of the stadium for that specific lot instead of say red parking at Arrowhead and you can park wherever, outside of gold. Poor signage, staff just standing around what little shade was available, first game of the season, etc. and it was a bit of a clunky process. |

They had westbound lanes blocked, yet weren't using them to funnel southbound 101 traffic to those lanes and northbound to the eastbound lanes... and then they bottlenecked everyone into one entrance. And of course just turn off the damn street lights. And then they funnel all of the foot traffic to walk in front of the lines of cars.

We were stuck on it for at least 40 minutes. The lights coming off the 101 were like 2-3 minutes and would flow, but on Cardinals Way the light was like 20 seconds and it was all jammed up from the 101 cars so only 1 or 2 cars could make it through. Which probably makes sense the other 350 days of the year. |

From TG, swung around on Cardinals Way and the first light before 101 would turn green, but the far light would stay red. After a few cycles of that, the couple cars in front said screw it and clogged the intersection just to get through... and magically that was when both lights turned green at the same time. And all they'd have to do is turn all lanes into eastbound going into that lot with warnings that you better be going to the game. I actually think it has more potential than the mess at Arrowhead if they would put a tiny bit more effort into traffic control.
