Yes, he came out from behind the car obviously, but my point is that he's not like he darted in front of Stewart's car in the blink of an eye. He was standing there in plain view and everyone else saw him and somehow was able to avoid killing him except for Stewart, who was riding higher on the track than anyone else and coincidentally gunned it as soon as he got up to Ward.

Stewart is one of the best drivers in the world. He knows what he's doing. He either meant to hit the guy, or meant to scare him and fugged up.

Either way, he's gonna pay for it.

Did you watch the video at all?

The guy is pointing at Stewart and staying out of the way of cars coming until Stewart is coming and he goes farther down the track.

I'm not familiar enough with engines or handling racing cars, particularly on dirt tracks. How believable will Stewart's upcoming claims of an "accident" or "mishandling" be?

Regardless of the answer, I don't understand why a) Ward Jr. is running out on the track, temper be damned and b) Stewart is getting even remotely close to Ward Jr.

He wasn't the only one that got pretty close to him. The car before Stewart had to swerve a bit to miss him because he darted down the track like an idiot.

Here's what actually happens: He takes a few steps toward the track, then a blue car goes by without killing him, camera cuts away for a half second, and when it goes back to Ward, he appears to be trying to jump back (away from Stewart) who has gassed it right as he approaches Ward and kills him.

My original point remains - Ward pretty clearly didn't jump out in front of Stewart's car from out of nowhere. Going out there wasn't smart, but it wasn't nearly as stupid as what Stewart did.

I just watched it a few times more.

Ward definitely moves down the track a couple steps, but...

Stewart guns the engine. The back of the car slides out, but Ward is already under it by then. I can't think of a reasonable explanation for hitting the gas when someone is in front of you.

If he does manage to get past the DA/grand jury he is going to face a tremendous monetary ruling in civil court.

The physical confrontation of vehicles by out of commission drivers has been going on for ages. Typically, a helmet is thrown. In this case a youngster died.
Doesn't anyone have ideas of stopping this? (besides throwing stars or shotguns)
