Strangest things your pets do?

Spin-off of Rain Man's eulogy, luv posted about her cat insisting on laying on a sponge, got me thinking.

What's the strangest thing one of your pets does? I'm not talking about the strangest thing they've done one time; I mean one of the things they do all the time.

I've got a cat for the first few months we had him would freak the **** out at two shirts I owned. I have two Chiefs shirts that both have fairly large screened images on the front. If the cat's paws touched the emblems, he would lean his head way back with these huge, freaked out eyes, and then he would wig out and run away.

Same cat finally got over that, but now if I wear a ball cap and pick him up, as soon as he sees the brim he puts both paws on the brim and hangs there like it's a ledge.

We have a 15 lb, chihuahua/beagle mix who is fearless when it comes to barking at big dogs and horses. He seems pretty confident in his quickness and his ability to get away if these bigger animals come at him. That's not the strange thing.

The strange thing is that he's afraid of flies. If he sees a fly or some other flying insect buzzing around, he heads for cover (e.g. under our coffee table, under my desk, in his kennel, etc.). He's so scared that his body shakes as he scans the skies for danger.

I guess our pets don't really do anything strange. My dog is just a dog. The cats do their thing.

One of the cats likes to scratch the shit out of the carpet at the same place in our bedroom every morning to wake up the wife, so she'll get fed (which the wife does almost every morning). I explained that the only reason the cat does that is because she falls for it all the time. The wife said, "Fine! What would you do instead!?" I decided to put a bunch of cayenne pepper in that spot and see what happened. Sure enough, the little bitch started scratching the next morning, stopped, began sneezing like crazy and tore off around the house, still sneezing. She hid in the basement the entire day.

My English Bull Terrier has insanely bad OCD and if anything exciting happens goes instantly to chasing his tail.

Also, if you scare him in any way, whether he is sleeping, if you hide and pop out whatever, he starts dropping BOMBS. Loud ones. Human like. And god DAMN do they stink.

Nasty little bastard.

Our kitten does it because she like to watch the water flush.

The other day I was taking a leak and our male cat kept winding around my legs and the toilet. I had to keep changing aim to keep from getting his tail wet.

Our dog talks to or "sings" to his squeaky toys. He treats them the same way my wife treats him. It is really pretty sweet.

My new adopted dog licks like crazy. we've only had her for about 2 weeks or so; I'm trying to break her of it. Our vet said when she starts doing it, to put your hand under her mouth and pet her on her head. this way she can't lick and she'll still get the attention she's looking for. Working on it.

My other girl lab lays on her back like a person. She also pees twice in seperate spots before pooping. We also ask her if she has to go 'poo poo' and she'll howl until we go out.

My boy short haired collie mix barks in 3's. every time.

Nothing pisses me off more than a dog who won't quite licking everything. I've come close to euthanizing my buddy's dog because of that......

I had a cat like that. He'd jump in the shower with me if I forgot to close the door. The first time, it freaked the **** out of me. I had soap in my eyes and something brushed against my leg!

If I did get the door closed in time, he'd rush in the bathroom afterwards, jump in the shower and whine until you let him shower for about a minute. Then he'd be in there for an hour cleaning himself and playing in the puddles of water.

come to think of it, my new girl dog started doing something funny a few days ago.

she'll roll onto her back and roll back and forth on it to scratch it. she'll start out in one spot, and end up 5' away....like a Sidewinder snake.

My cat isn't very smart.............

In all seriousness, my Boston Terrier will not sleep unless it's under the covers in our bed. He also likes to grab a squeaky toy and run full speed around the living room behind all the furniture for no reason while squeaking the toy. He just does it for no reason. He's not all there.

my boy dog, up until he was about 3, would get on the bed, sit right next to you, and look over you/stare at you.

Ever get the feeling someone is staring at you?....try opening your eyes in the morning and having dog peering down at you. Like 'Dude! You're finally awake! Let's play with the rope"
