Did O’Daniel replace Ragland?

Ragland played 8 snaps last night. He wasn’t on the injury report either.

Looks like we might have a new rookie starter. Kid played really well last night.

Just a special assignment to shadow Gurley is my best guess.

Rams decided to win, they needed to pass.

Ragland can’t cover.

One of the higher-ups probably watched about 5 minutes of game tape and realized that a parking bollard would make more plays than Ragland does.

Nieman and O'daniel played a lot last night.

This is a good thing.

Now Lucas needs to play over Sorensen.

I didn't see Nieman in there a lot, but O'Daniel is much better in coverage than Ragland. Sorensen didn't look very good last night, maybe still recovering, but he seemed to be covering WRs quite a bit and he just can't do that.

Defending the Rams is like defending the Warriors in the NBA -- they stretch you out and they require tons of athleticism to keep up. You can't play a 7 foot behemoth against the Warriors, they will just torch you.

By the same token, a 260 lbs linebacker or whatever he is is useless.

O'Daniel needs to do better on his assignments but other than that he should show improvement and gives us some athleticism across the middle that we need in those dime and quarter packages.

Late in the game, the Chiefs were playing dime or quarters with O'Daniel and Sorensen as their LBs. It was perfect for shutting down Gurley in the passing game.

Unfortunately a lack of Berry just absolutely kills us against tight ends. Goff threw a combined 112 yards and 2 TDs to his TEs.

Two tangentially related facts that do not deserve their own thread:

The Chiefs played AT LEAST nickel for every single defensive snap. Literally, 100%. They had at least 5 DBs on the field for literally the entire game.

Second -- don't look now, but Anthony Hitchens is 5th in the NFL in tackles.

So many rookies playing its tough to gauge how goid or bad they are. Hitch the disappointment. Whats he done of note? Nothing.

We did - but Pat three picks, there was 2 strip sacks. 2 defensive interceptions. The loss isn't on the defense - honest to god. They played average. The Rams avg what - 34 points a game? Would have given up about 30-35 points if you take away the mistakes.
