Any CP guitar players use Line 6?
Having issues with my Zoom amp modeling software, no longer being updated and the driver is horrible. I have to run it in a Windows XP VM which further screws up performance.

I'm think of switching to a Line 6 Spider amp. Has a more limited range of modeling options but doesn't depend on being connected to a computer. They get great reviews and I could get a 15W practice amp for under $100.

It just depends on the computer and they've stopped updating the software and drivers.

I have played around with the Spider amp a ton at GC, I was looking at getting the Spider IV 30... I really like the thing, like the sounds and it is easy to use. I ended up getting a Beheringer V-Ampire head used for $50... I LOVE the thing! I use it for jamming in the basement when the family is home and also for my direct recording. My son has a Fender Mustang modelling amp that is fun to play around with.



After playing the digital thing for 20+ years I am now going to the tube amp and minimal effects route for my live stuff and I am loving it!

Yeah, my buddy uses an HD500 and it's awesome.

He runs two 4x10 cabs and For his main distortion tone, he models a diezel VH4 on the left and a Triple Rec on the right.

and to fix the clean into distortion problem, the HD500 can use the expression pedal to blend the clean INTO the distortion tones so you don't get latency on the switch.

There are some variables into what a good decision for gear is.

Budget, Style, Genre, personal taste, etc.

There is no right or wrong answer.

I have used Line 6 amp heads and cabs for the last 6 years. Absolutely love them.
I have a Spider III 150 w head and 2x12 cab right now.

Do any of you use a drum simulator for recording? Or do you have some other solution other than knowing a drummer?

On my ZFX software, I absolutely love the tone from the Diezel VH4 model. I use it a lot.

I've used Hydrogen and digital drum pad. I can't play drums, hands and feet, so I play both parts on the pads with my hands and then mix them.
