The Royals pulled something off that I never thought they would in a sport where all of the odds were stacked against them. It's something I'm going to be able to treasure for the rest of my life.

Alright, I've parted my two cents. Everyone can now resume with the thread's intended programming.
The 2015 Royals team post-deadline, and especially once Gordon was healthy and returned to LF (moving Zobrist to 2B) was as flawless of a team as you can get. Their success between 2014 and 2015 was probably the most perfect of a storyline as you can get. If Disney made that into a movie it would have been a terrible, cliche, predictable POS .

There was never a deficit that those teams couldn't overcome (save G7 2014 WS). Damn, good times indeed. So good for the city. I hope and pray the Chiefs can bring that kind of magic this season.

Hoots is a good guy. He just gets so passionate about a certain topic and pounds it in the ground. Just dial down the emotion a bit, though.

I don't really see the big deal with Clay, either.

There are regular members that treat many others way way worse, and nobody seems to give a shit.

If I recall correctly, the trades happened news around the time that viable sources had printed Gordo was primed for a September return. I remember watching Gordo hit home runs in rehab assignments in 240p, and hypothesizing with Rany and those here about what our beastly lineup would look like after Gordo's triumphant return (Ol' Edgar, of course, went in a completely different direction).

Of course, the dream team went on to play like refried ass through most of September. Thankfully, they harmonized when it mattered most (Game 4, top of the 8th inning), and never looked back after that.

I would love to see the Chiefs capture that kind of magic in the playoffs. Edgar made me eat the largest sautéed crow in my life, I'd love for Alex and Andy to make me choke down one even larger.

To tie all of this back to Hootie, I think his presence was most felt by the Royals' diehards here. He got in massive fights with about all of us from time to time, and though he face-planted on some of his analysis, he was near prophetic on a lot of his projections about the Royals. The 2016 season was definitely not the same with his absence.

Here's something funny I just realized. We didn't start until Week 5. Hootie didn't even make it to Week 7.
It took LESS THAN 2 WEEKS before Hootie got himself run from the Fanduel group and CP. Couldn't even keep his shit together for 2 weeks.

You bring up an excellent point about Hootie, he was ALWAYS too cool for anyone outside of what he believed to be the - for lack of a better word - football heirarchy around here

In truth, he was just a sad sociopath looking for an approving audience

Hootie demands to be POPULAR above all else
