Country Club Plaza = Bannister Mall part 2?
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - More than 100 teens converged on the Country Club Plaza Saturday night and created a ruckus for patrons and a lot of work for Kansas City police officers.

Stories like those about the plaza have been rolling in for the last year or longer. At one point there was a shooting and they have put a curfew in place


I remember years ago bannister mall area was thriving. Hypermart and all the other surrounding stores were very popular and always busy. Crime slowly strangled the area and people chose to go elsewhere. The whole place turned into a ghost town. Obviously Cerner is building there now but the question I pose is simple

There are a lot of options other than the plaza around KC so...

Will the Plaza die the same way the Bannister area did?

I don't think there is anything to be afraid of on the plaza. It's still a fun place to be ona Saturday night. But I guess if people want to cower and be afraid as they go through life they can do that too.

Twenty juveniles detained after fight on the Country Club Plaza

A fight broke out late Saturday on the Country Club Plaza after a “party bus” with 15- to 19-year-olds arrived, according to a Twitter report from Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forté.

.@kcpolice Party bus with 15-19 yr olds arrived on Plaza. Fight broke out. Several juveniles detained for violating curfew. Will update soon

.@kcpolice Mounted Patrol Officers were told a female was in possession of a gun on the Plaza. Will update as facts become available.

.@kcpolice Officers working off-duty for the Plaza cited 20 juveniles for violating curfew.

You'd be surprised. Party busses for high school kids is the new thing to do. Wasn't there a case around here where some kid fired off rounds at a party bus full of kids from another high school this time last year or so? Our daughter wanted to go on one a couple of times, and we categorically shot down that idea. To her credit, once she heard of all the hell that was being raised on the bus she wasn't really interested after the first time someone in her school got one.

The parents who rented the bus for the kids should be held accountable, imo.
