Years ago I heard an interview with Bill Polian, who was GM of the Bills when they lost the Super Bowl 4 years in a row. He pointed out that in baseball if you win a pennant that's great. In college basketball if you make it to the Final Four that's awesome. But somehow in the NFL the loser of the Super Bowl is treated as if they failed worse than the worst team in the league.

We’re still the best team in the AFC . . . . . by far!

We’ll be back next year with another chance to get a trophy. I’m not worried. This team will be VERY motivated next year.

It wasn't even a bad game. But now in the age of social media and hot take shows there are bad takes galore. Best to ignore all the noise. Nick was great here.

I feel like Tampa Bay is Admiral Yamamoto. While it's probably not going to be an exact comp (well, for many reasons but you get it) since it's unlikely we face Brady again, the rest of the NFL is going to take the brunt of Patrick's burning resolve.

Agreed. And to be doubly fair to Nick, he has brought up this same argument in terms of Lebron for years, so it's not like he's just come up with this to apply to Patrick.

Nick Wright is amazing. I loved his radio show a lot when he was in KC, but never could have guessed he'd become the national media face of Chiefs fandom. Couldn't ask for a better representative.

Mahomes was running for his life. Almost 500 yards of running around proves that fact.

Patrick Mahomes has been a full-time starter for 3 seasons now. His worst result is reaching the AFC championship game.

Tom Brady considered the goat missed the playoffs the year after his first super bowl. Brady also lost twice to Eli Manning who I don't think many people think is even in the top 10 all-time. And Nick Foles a career backup QB

Anyone who thinks this 1 game ruins Mahomes legacy is a clueless Jackass. Mahomes will be going into his 4th year starting. So far he has a 66% rate of reaching the Super Bowl. Mahomes Legacy has yet to be written. And I personally am enjoying what he has done so far.

Kind of sad in a way that stuff like this even has to be said, but I guess that's just the audience of the Super Bowl, plus a TB fan base that isn't exactly... around.

I actually considered not starting this thread because I agree it shouldn't need to be said. But Wright's comments were so spot on it seemed like needed healing for this wounded bunch.
