I get excited when it's time to spread fertilizer. I bought some 28-0-0 slow release from the local feed store for $20 bucks per bag (covers 10000 sq ft). It's called "Piss off your neighbor". Heh.

The football stadium down the road was replacing their old AstroTurf with this new age field turf, its very nice and damn near feels like a real football field. I acquired the old AstroTurf pretty cheap and put it down on my lawn and I have not had to mow it or maintain it ever since.

How cheap are we talking? Cause I just got down mowing and this idea crossed my head a few times.

Mine was .55 per square foot, I got a good deal on it, going to be hard to find it that cheap.

The rich neighborhood that adjoins ours has some of that turf at the entrance. It looks pretty good. It looks like freshly mowed winter ryegrass. However, amazingly, some weeds still somehow manage to grow in it.

I've actually retired from sculpting my lawn and have passed that honor along to my son. He does a piss poor job, and I still edge and line trim.

Before my turf I really did not either, I just turned my weedwhacker sideways and did it that way.

I love a super dense lawn that is sharply edged into a nice square shape.

Do you use your weed eater, an attachment for it, or a purpose built edger? I've been using an attachment on my weed eater, but it gets a bit tiring after a while. I'm considering purchasing a purpose built edger so I can knock that edging out quickly and easily.
