I really hope in 15 years we get to watch a "beyond the glory" special that details how Pioli snorted all his NFL money up his nose, ended up in jail and just got out and is looking forward to "rebuilding his life" as bitchboy scout.

I'm always amazed at how fans of other teams that I talk to don't realize how awful Pioli was here. I understand that the Chiefs aren't always being talked about by the media, but people don't seem to get how he really destroyed the organization with his micromanaging ways, awful FA signings (Stanford Routt, Peyton Hillis anyone?) and, for the most part, awful draft picks.

I was pointed to this article as proof that Pioli did well here: http://www.thefalcoholic.com/2014/1/...ent-evaluation

I find it funny when they mention Houston, Berry, Poe, and Bailey as good draft picks. I completely agree, although I feel that Berry was someone that anyone would've picked, and Poe was probably Crennel's pick. I'll give him Hudson as well, as I think he'll be a good player, but the problem is.... those were his only good draft picks. Look at his drafts, they're terrible.

I understand an article by a Falcons fan would be optimistic and try to look at the good things of Pioli, considering he has a say in their future, and at the very least has a say in how candy wrappers are picked up in Atlanta. It just saddens me to see people praise someone who is so god-awful at their job.

Looks like they are giving Quinn a good amount of personel decisions too. So basically 3 GM's??

http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles...him-in-seattle

Here's the quote.
As Vaughn McClure and Adam Schefter of ESPN pointed out Monday, Falcons owner Arthur Blank also implied recently that Quinn could have plenty of say when it comes to personnel decisions. It wouldn't be fair to suggest right now that some control over personnel would be a good or bad thing for Quinn, but it's worth noting that he's never had that type of power before.

Atlanta is going to burn. Pioli isn't exactly the best team player. 4 guys calling the shots, good luck with that.

For some reason this brought to mind Browns fans. Take your exact feeling for Pioli and then imagine:

1. Pioli leads the Falcons to 3 Super Bowls in 4 years; AND

2. 4 Super Bowls in 15 years; AND

3. The Kansas City Chiefs moved, let's say Los Angeles, and then were a consistently very good team, and won a Super Bowl only 5 years after leaving, and then another Super Bowl about 10 years after that; AND

4. the NFL awarded Kansas City a new franchise, which just flat sucked for 10 years after being recreated, THEN

you would be a fan of the Cleveland Browns. I truly and honestly feel bad for those people.

So Pioli basically is in charge of evaluating and getting the players, Dimitrioff is in charge of Pioli, and Quinn is in charge of making sure Dimitrioff and Pioli get guys he wants. Blank is in charge of all of them.

The one plus here for Atlanta is that Pioli has three bosses telling him what to do. Pioli is probably at his best when he has a singular job and has others telling him what to do, based on his New England days. But that still seems like a convoluted power structure set up for ego battles and behind the scenes drama...

Pioli shows up in 2013.

Falcons start cheating by pumping crowd noise in that very season.

Coincidence?

LaCanfora with the dig today:

Quote:
General manager Ray Farmer, looking over his shoulder since he was promoted to that role a year ago and someone who numerous team sources say is a path of least resistance for the owner on personnel matters, is facing an inquiry for illegally contacting coaches during game day. And, sources tell me, that it was not unusual for him to call and/or text former Browns quarterback coach Dowell Loggains in the coaches box during game days and that the NFL's investigation into the matter would certainly reveal as much. (Farmer, who worked under draconian Scott Pioli in Kansas City, seems to have adopted some of his mentor's ways).

Any word on whether the noise being pumped in was generated by interns wadding up candy wrappers in front of the PA microphone?

Anybody trying to connect the crowd noise fiasco with Scott Pioli is a ****ing reerun.

At this point, Pioli is used for media appearances at the Senior Bowl and helpful advice when it comes to certain free agents. Thomas Dimitroff is the general manager, and Dan Quinn will have the final say on each player drafted or signed.

So for the conspiracy theorists who think that Pioli is going to sabotage Atlanta with shitty offseason acquisitions, remember that this is Quinn's team on the field and off the field. By all local accounts, Pioli is 5th in line behind Quinn, Dimitroff, Arthur Blank, and Rich McKay.
