Chiefs Propaganda: EVERYTHING IS FINE, SITUATION NORMAL

http://www.chiefs.com/news/article-2...c-8910d9dd7f3a

Quote:
Perception can often be clouded in the interim by the emotions of the moment, and after the Kansas City Chiefs 43-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night, head coach Andy Reid took a step back on Monday while speaking with the local media at the University of Kansas Hospital Training Complex.

“We’re 2-2,” Reid explained. “It’s not the end of the world, even though it feels that way. That’s how things are in the National Football League. We’ve got a week to step back, analyze and fix some of these issues.”

If there’s a team that knows a thing or two about putting things behind them and moving forward, it’s this Chiefs team, which overcame a 1-5 start a year ago to rattle off 10 straight regular season victories to make the playoffs, then winning their first playoff game in more than two decades.

But all-time win streaks shouldn’t have to be the plan every year to overcome a slow first quarter of the season. At 2-2, the Chiefs can use Sunday as a teachable moment and find something positive in it moving forward.

While it may seem obvious, one bad loss doesn’t mean the goals for this team are now unattainable.

Over the past six years, 31 of the 72 playoff teams had a game in their respective seasons that they lost by 25 or more points, and that also includes three of the last six Super Bowl winners.

Those 72 playoff teams had an average worst defeat that year of 20 points, so it’s not uncommon for successful teams to have a bad game. The Chiefs just need to make sure it’s an outlier.

“We have a bunch of fighters here, we just have to look into the mirror and realize we did not come to play (on Sunday),” veteran Tamba Hali said after the game. “When we play together, we do well. When we do not play well and make mistakes like we did (against the Steelers), that is the result. That’s a good team we played today. They win Super Bowls here.

“For us to take that step, we have to beat a few teams like [the Steelers].”

“You learn a lot about yourself when you get your butt kicked,” veteran Derrick Johnson added after the game. “The best thing about it is it counts as one game. It does not put a damper on the season, and it does not set us into panic mode.

“We’ll learn a lot about our team’s character after something like this. We were tested and we’ll have to see if we can rise up to the challenge.”

It’s a locker room that’s been tested before and come out on the right end of it, and while the sting of a nationally televised loss is still fresh in the minds of the players, coaches and fans, the truth is there are 12 regular-season games left and the next game is against their division rival in the Oakland Raiders.

Reid’s message to his team after the game was pretty simple.

“When you’re a good football team, or you’re perceived to be a good football team, you’ve got to learn how to control yourself, play better and not let emotions get the best of you,” Reid explained.”Our guys busted their tails and tried hard. We’ve got to learn how to control those emotions.

“It’s fully on my plate and my responsibility to make sure our guys understand that, and they will because that’s the type of locker room we have.”

We learned last year never to count out the Chiefs, so while the loss stings and shouldn’t be discarded or forgotten, the fact is it took them until Week 7 of last year to pick up their second win of the season. It’s a perspective that’s hard to see when the emotions of what could have been on Sunday night were quickly tossed to the side because of a slow start.

“If we’re all pulling in the same direction, we’ll be a pretty good football team,” Reid concluded.

He went from stomping around with his proclamations of 14-2 and 11-5 floor and now suddenly getting a participation trophy against the Raiders is OK.

He ripped the goalposts and threw them out of the stadium. He's hysterical.

Man, I hate this place after a loss. Clay and his minions jerking off all over the board. It's right before the bye week too so we get the pleasure for two weeks.

You'll join our merry band soon enough. The offense is functioning at Casselian levels, doesn't figure to change anytime soon, and the defense isn't strong enough to support them.

When your "mobile" quarterback can't even scramble for first downs anymore, it's over, sunshine.

It's time to put the hammer DOWN.

What?

It's one week. They're 2-2, pretty much were most people thought they'd be at this point in the season.

Let's see how they respond against Oakland before declaring the end of the Chiefs 2016 season after Week 4.
This is reasonable. However, my concern is more so in the big picture. We keep looking like this, well maybe not as bad, but in certain ways games against very good teams turn out like this. Reid hasn't fixed a lot of his mistakes, and I think it is right to be concerned that this team will have a very difficult time competing against a good team on the road in the playoffs.

The NE game had a few positives. If they learned from their mistakes and players improved there would be hope. Reid seems to always make the same mistakes and fall in love with some poor OC tendencies, and my concern is that it just isn't going to change.

After the first two plays of the game, which looked fantastic, we go away from it. He took zero out of those two plays. He had other cool plays he wanted to run and he did. We keep going sideways instead of doing what works. Reid is so afraid of running plays until the other team stops them.

Its OK.

It makes them feel important...that their opinion matters.

Clearly evident that they never ever played high school or college sports. Hell, I would bet most of them would not know how to put on a jock strap.

You can't win all the games. We destroyed NE at home the year they won a SB.

We will bounce back...and the whining drama queens will go to back to their safe spots....waiting for the next opportunity to show us how smart they truly are.

First of all, you don't have to have played football to recognize a shit show when you see one. Second, I did play, not that it makes any difference.

Third, it isn't just about this one game. A lot of us have been biting our tongues ever since we acquired Smith because he does not pass the eye test of being a good QB. His stat lines are padded with passes behind the line of scrimmage. He has no pocket awareness. He doesn't look downfield past the initial read. He repeatedly scrambles INTO defenders. He is inaccurate, often, especially on anything over 15 yards.

Our ranting isn't about the sky is falling and the season is over. We've just had enough. Look at the gifs Clay posted and tell me that is acceptable QB play. I dare you. I'm done holding my tongue and hoping Alex becomes the QB he has shown in flashes every now and then. It isn't going to happen. Ever. The guy is in year 4 of this offense and year 12 of his career. He is what he is, and it isn't good. I will continue to call for him to be benched until he is.

What drives me the most crazy is.. Unlike others, I don't think Alex is a bad qb when he wants to be good. Alex smith with his back against the wall has been pretty good. Other than Sundays shit show of course. But he waits to go down 2 scores to open this up. I've been hoping that a bad defense might force him into this mentality to begin games. But I've given up believing he will ever consistently be this qb.

His problems are mostly mental. And thats not going to change after 10 years.

Good, good, get that rant all out of your system. Feel better now?

Interesting to see that your acute football wisdom focused on Smith only. The entire team go bushwhacked on Sunday.

By the way, why didn't you state this nonsense when Smith and the Chiefs wacked Houston last year 30-0? If you are man of principal, you should have stated all this then. But no, you did not. So we know what you are.

You know the one thing that Alex can do to stop this shit streak he's been on?

Scramble more.

We've already accepted the fact that he's limited in his downfield vision. When he buys time like he's been doing an okay job of this year, he's desperately looking around for something to open up to his liking. Honestly, if the QB clock in his head even starts to approach the red, he should just escape the damn pocket and take off.

He did that insanely well last year during our 10-game winning streak, and it was totally a huge part of the reason why our offense was so efficient. Teams had to respect his scrambling.

The Steelers didn't respect his scrambling at all. Not one bit. Why? Because he never scrambled on Sunday night.

He's never going to be Brett Favre, and trying to get him to be Brett Favre isn't going to make him Brett Favre, it's just going to make him shitty and mediocre at being Brett Favre. Let him do the thing he's comfortable with, and get some ****ing chains moving like we're used to seeing when he uses his legs.

This was my concern, the Chiefs will claim "it's just one game." Duh! What gets lost in that mindset was how they got totally kicked in the dick in a game that's an hour long, and played with a series of plays that last 6-10 seconds each. The most any one bad play can hurt you is six points. What Reid is willfully avoiding is the fact that this team let far too many of those 6-10 second plays prove they can't fix problems on the fly.
