Chiefs are planning to retain Romeo Crennel and remove interim tag

Chiefs are planning to retain Romeo Crennel and remove interim tag from his title. Move would be popular in the locker room.

The falcons went from high 20s to #6 last year and didn't give up three # 1s

And still got a blue-chip prospect

He said an additional pick, depending on where they're trading from.

What that sounds like to me is that even the Browns and Skins will have to offer up a #4 or #6 pick, an additional first round pick, and an additional pick (in this case, probably a lower one).

If that's the baseline, then take that same trade package and then add in what it would cost to trade down from #4 to #11. That's 550 points (basically a second rounder). So it would probably be either 3 firsts, or 2 firsts, a second rounder, and a lower pick (whatever it is the Browns offer).

It's a far different story when you're talking about #1 - a franchise QB; #2 - potentially trading your way out of a surefire blue chip pick like Blackmon

again like I said IMO if he thought it was going to take a third #1 I would imagine he would say that. Thats VERY SIGNIFICANT, more IMO than just another pick depending where you are coming from.

HOPE is good.
All due respect, but Scott Pioli doesn't give a shit.

He passed on Clausen twice with Charlie Weis in the room.

Pioli's going to do what he's going to do. Dude has a spine of steel.

Here's a taste of how Romeo handled the QB situation in Cleveland. Quinn was drafted in 2007. Derek Anderson had a terrific year, so without question, he was the undisputed starter. In 2008, Anderson had a concussion in the preseason and played terribly. Halfway through the season, Romeo made the switch to Quinn. Quinn started a few games, played well, and then missed the rest of the season to injury. Anderson goes back in and plays terribly.
In 2008, Anderson did regress but a lot of it fell to injuries on the o-line and the WR's putting butter on their fingers all season, as well as Jamal Lewis playing like shit. DA is awful when he has to press. Quinn didn't play that well when he did play and both Quinn and DA ended up going on IR during the season. The 2008 season was a mess all around.

How is this on Romeo? Mangini was the coach in '09 when this happened.

Well thats not what his browns fan friends told him when they were all watching those games together.

Easy mistake though with how much romeo and mangini resemble each other

Sorry, you're 100% right. For some reason, I thought I remembered Crennel coaching during the QB fiasco.

If this is true, i guess I will know how most Republicans feel about nominating Romney.

It's just "Meh." Nothing to get excited about.

Julio Jones was a solid top 10 pick. He is not on nearly the same level as AJ Green or Blackmon, who is about as surefire as Megatron was coming out of the draft.

So the Rams lose out on a much better prospect if they trade down. And the player that would require a trade-up will be a franchise QB, something the #4 pick, the #6 pick, #8-9 pick and the #11-12 pick desperately need, triggering a trade war.

It's going to take some serious picks for Cleveland or Washington to trade up. It's going to take a shitload for Kansas City to beat those two teams out.

He actually handled the QB situation pretty well, IMO. He went with who he thought gave him the best chance to win regardless of if he was a high pick or not. A lot of people gave him grief for not playing Quinn in 2008 but, in hindsight, Quinn sucks (and was injured almost immediately) so RAC was between a rock and a hard place when DA regressed and the team was hit with injuries.

It's not blind hatred. I've watched a lot of Browns games and just mixed up the years. Like I said, it was a dumb mistake.

And I don't hate Romeo. I think he's a phenomenal Defensive Coordinator. I don't think he's head coach material. In those Browns games, you saw a lethargic team, a team that made Herm Edwards like game management mistakes on a weekly basis, and a head coach who just didn't have the consistent fire and energy to continually ignite his team to play hard.

The book on Romeo is that he's just too nice of a guy to be a head coach. It's one thing to expect a coach to learn on the position. It's another to expect that after 30+ years of coaching, he's going to suddenly change his personality. He's always going to be a player's coach. That's a tremendous thing to have as an Assistant. As a head coach, like I said, I think in 2-3 years, the team is going to walk all over him.
