About Justin Houston..

Does anyone else think he has been playing pretty lazily early in games this year? Perhaps it has been a scheme thing, perhaps today he was still feeling some illness.. but I typically watch him on 75+% of the snaps and its like he is waiting until the 4th quarter to 'flip the switch'. He shuts down the run for 4 quarters, I am referring only to his pass rush.

He either gets dropped into coverage, or he will rush and give up on it if he doesn't win immediately. Then, the 4th quarter hits and we see the dominant, relentless Justin Houston that he used to be on every down.

Hopefully its just some sort of schematic thing going on. I'm glad he is still having a huge impact nonetheless with 4 sacks thus far, but I can't help but wonder if he is holding back effort. Lets hope that changes because the defense is damn good when he is rolling...

WE are not blitzing at all, we rush 3-4 players everytime, and 1 of them linebackers is always in coverage.

You'd be better off just posting "I'm a moron" over and over again instead of the crap you post. Getting one sack a game, versus stuffing 5-10 runs isn't equal. The run stuff is better. Sure it itsn't the highlight, but it's more valuable to the team. Especially since we were limited at ILB to start with, and now with Berry out, we need the run stop even worse.

Perhaps this post game quote will help to explain my query. Here it is:

On how he felt physically today:
Quote:
"The second half I had my feet under me. I was able to go. After the first half, I was good to to. After the first quarter, I was kind of weak out there." - Houston
Sounds like perhaps the sickness from a few days ago combined with the heat today may have bothered him early on.

Houston can rush the passer, cover, and stuff the run. All 3 things at an elite level. I'm sorry if your fantasy football team wants him to get more sacks. When he's healthy he's dominant as hell. And he's been a monster all season. I think guys like Justin Houston are incredibly underrated. Imagine if he rushed the passer as much as a normal olb. I'm glad he doesn't. Because why waste the talent of a guy like that?

Some players wear out their opponents:

Muhammad Ali comes to mind....

So does Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

Justin Houston is another and it looks like Kareem Hunt will be another. Stronger as the game gets going.

Doesn't help that the Chargers sideline is in shade while the Chiefs are baking in the sun. Which I can tell you was extra bright today for some reason. The temperature might not look that hot, but it was rough in the sun.

Sutton doesn't Rush the pass with extra people until the 4th quarter. Is Houston supposed to blitz on his own? Houston isn't lazy, Sutton is stupid.
