****OFFICIAL Chiefs Injury Update Thread****
We're getting to a crucial part of the season, and right now it feels like the most important thing to keep track of is the health of a handful of key guys. When Maclin comes back he'll be able to attract enough attention to make Kelce and Hill even more effective, and when Ford comes back, well, the pass rush could become literally unstoppable. Then there's Poe's nagging back spasms, Howard's hip, and Alex Smith's severe allergic reaction to throwing the ball downfield.

Starting this thread to have a centralized place for updates, speculation, and wbf's! Have fun, folks!!!

CURRENT UPDATES:

Justin Houston is PRACTICING today, and Andy Reid thinks he'll be ready to go on Sunday!

Phillip Gaines is OUT for Sunday... whatever!

It's so encouraging to see Maclin and Ford out there.

As for Howard, he's not an issue right now. Roches and Reyes have been fantastic replacements.

I have one of those right now and I'm no where near that size. Problem with the hip is you (and by "you" I mean "me") get pains in the hip, the back, down the leg. You can't really do anything except some stretching and resting until it decides it wants to quit hurting.

Yeah, can't fault him if he's hurt but I was really hoping Poe would go crazy this season playing for a contract. Hate to say it but the drop-off from him to the back-ups/rookie hasn't been nearly as big as I suspected.

Really, really encouraging injury report. I didn't expect Maclin or Ford out there at all. Ford I was honestly worried wouldn't even be there for Oakland. Poe and Howard will come along. They need to be safe with those big guys given their specific injuries.

Overall a lot for the team and fans to be excited about.

Jesus, did you see a couple of the plays RNR made while at nose? He made plays Poe can't.

I love Poe, though, I hope he gets well and re-signs with the Chiefs. The Falcons have a good OL, so this will be a good test of a non-Poe DL.

Who do you even put at nose with Poe and Howard out? Time to activate TJ Barnes?

And Chris Jones is the replacement. Not position-wise, but in terms of being a force on the DL.

The importance of Poe is dimmed greatly when you have elite edge rushers.... Houston, Ford and Hali force the QB to step up into the interior rush no matter who is playing. Having a Chris Jones or Poe is a huge bonus, but not near the need that edge rushers are today.

Just look at teams like the Jets. Elite on the interior, but where's the production? They don't have the help on the edges for their talent to translate as well as it could.
