Marlins sue fans

Loria is scum of the highest order. Not sure how he was able to con MLB after the disaster that the Expos were. To sue fans after you pulled out of what you promised is horrible. If MLB had balls they would sanction him.

Here is the article:

Summary:

Quote:
Loria's team is suing a fan named Kenneth Sack in Broward County to take a $725,000 building he owns

...Sack signed a four-year contract for season tickets in 2012 at $16,200 per ticket for a total price of $129,6000. Sack... paid the full $32,400 for the first season but then wanted to walk away. The team sued him in December 2014 for the remaining $97,200.

In January, the team won a judgment against Sack for the full $97,200...

On March 12, the Marlins initiated a foreclosure proceeding for a commercial building Sack owns in Oakland Park, arguing that they can seize the property to fulfill the $97,200 he owes them.

They sued other fans and the county property assessor thinks the property is worth more than 7 times what Sack owes.

$16,200 per ticket

Do those tickets come with complementary coffee served by a Swiss waitress?

They were supposed to get private parking, private gate to the stadium, and pre and post game buffets. The Marlins pretty much reneged on everything.

$200 a game is probably not that uncommon for premium seating, I'd guess.

$200 a ticket for all of that is dirt cheap

Loria is a POS obviously, and I'm not sure why he would be behind or even care about this since he's about to sell the team -

But if you're an executive working for any business and someone is in breach of contract and owes you $97,200, you're going to put your legal people on them.

Since they already won a judgement against this guy in a lower court, I'm guessing there's no "contract void if you don't like the buffet options" clause.

Most clubs that have fans that want out of multi-year contracts either let it go or the fan pays a reduced price since you know they don't want the negative PR of suing their fans.

Sooo the guy had a contract to buy x amount worth of tickets and didn't pay up. The Marlin's absolutely are not in the wrong here. Pay your ****ing bills. Don't go into contracts you don't like.

He seemed to be trying to wiggle out of the contract by claiming that the Marlins changing the associated benefits violated the contract. I'm guessing the lower court would have, you know, looked at the contract and determined if that was true or not.
