Anyone planning on doing some black Friday shopping? What kind of deals are out there this year?

Absolutely...ton of awesome games to play on it already and 2 GOTY candidates on it. It's worth it for those games alone.

Seems like a nice, relatively affordable set at a good price. I'm not a big TV/Movie guy so I don't need the QLED/OLED kind of stuff. I've never really been a first adopter type. I figure this will be a big enough upgrade on my 10 year old 1080 that it'll seem amazing for me either way so why drop 2K on a set that I probably won't put to its highest/best use via my old Blue Ray player or long-ass HDMI cables run through the walls.
Playing with the options it looks like the HDR model is 150 more. Don't know how much that's worth to you. Otherwise, the TVs aren't going to be cheaper for a year.

That one is supposed to have a sort of 'imitation' HDR. Have you had any experience with the feature? My understanding is that it's great for sports but can make anything else look really strange.

Truth be told, I can't decide how much I care about it. If it's the feature that gives most shows the 'soap opera' effect, I can live without it.

Go buy 4 or 5 of those. Buy a Switch + games at Gamespot for 400 or 500 when you've only spent 320 and 400 respectively.

Mario Odyssey and Zelda BotW for single player.

It really depends on what you are expecting and what you are going to be using it for.

Do i think the hardware is worth the 299 price point? absolutely.

But the game selection at this time is limited. There are only a few blockbuster type games out for it now.

If you are going to buy it, then jump into breath of the wild or super mario oddesy for a few months i would say go for it. But if you are expecting to be playing dozens of different games the options really aren't there just yet. A lot of the available games for it right now are ports of older games too.

I don't think you will see a price drop on this system for at least another year though, so if you want it you may as well get it.

I don't think it has HDR? and that would be a dealbreaker for me.

If losing some screen size isn't a deal breaker, you can land a 55 off Amazon for a very low price and get HDR.

Look up the 55" TCL with Roku for under $400

And I'm fine with solid.

Put my order in an hour or so ago. Like I said; my 52'' down there is like 10 years old so I expect this will seem like an enormous improvement. May need to upgrade some hardward as I don't think DirecTV's picture is generally worth a damn but if I cord cut and improve my internet speed, I think I'll see some pretty major gains.
