How many teams stuck to their boards to get value, only to have their guy taken before they could get a chance?

Clearly the 9ers weren't alone in thinking that the guy could be groomed into a legit QB.
Of course not...if they were all alone in liking him they could have gotten him much later than the second round.

You take calculated risks in the draft room. They were hoping they'd fall to their spot in round 2 and when they realized that may not happen they traded up to get him.

Look, I get it... the simple fact is it is a bad year to need a QB and have the number one pick. Maybe this is all smoke and mirrors and Andy has a boner for a QB, but this fan base might want to start preparing for them to draft their board - which will mean a day 2 QB.

In 2010 the 49ers wanted Nate Allen as a FS. He was selected by the Eagles a few picks before.

The 49ers ended up taking Taylor Mays instead.

Ouch. Allen hasn't been great,but Mays isn't even on the team.

You win some, you lose some. The peeps who stay static don't usually build a winner.

Actually I'd heard on the Radio that they move him over to RT and then draft a LT.
