More pass rush, and better Secondary play improves the D.

We Can be better that 2013.
I assure you, the D won't improve.

Let's not forget that they kept Bob Sutton. That is all we need to know about the defense as to why it'll be shit.

Sincerely hope I'm wrong, but I'm expecting us to step back a bit this year... theres just going to be too much reliance on second year guys who are unknown quantities and rookies.

Our biggest offensive need will have to be filled by either a rookie, and we all know how successful most rookie receivers are, or we're going to count on Jenkins taking a huge stride forward, and while I really like his potential... I didn't want to have to count on him.

Same thing with our biggest defensive need... its either going to be filled by a rookie or a second year guy who hasn't played a down of pro football. Its not a situation that inspires any confidence in me at all, theres just too many unknowns, too many stars that have to perfectly align.

What the O line becomes is up in the air.
What Kelce can do is up in the air.
Who can step in for Hali and play well is up in the air.
Will Cooper take another stride forward is up in the air.

Yeah man... just a TON of what if's, maybe's and unknown's this year.

even if the 2014 team is somehow better than the 2013 team they face a much harder schedule which will likely reflect in the w-L column.

How many backups from last season do you think are going to be starters this season?

I count four: Abdullah (definite upgrade from Lewis), Stephenson (upgrade from Fisher's play at RT last season), Jenkins (on paper a downgrade from McCluster, but his ceiling is definitely higher), and Johnson (downgrade from Schwartz).

I expect Fisher to make huge strides over an injury filled Rookie season.
I think we may take a step back at G, which is the least important position in football.

Outside of that, we are talking about..what. Replacing McCluster? How will ever manage to do that?
I See Bowe having a Monster year. Hell, AJ Jenkins is as good as McCluster.

We are going to get Something out of either, Kelce, or Cummings. Might not be much, but I'll bet it's more that K. Lewis provided.

The whole approach seems to be trusting in the drafted players.
I think Kush is going to contribute, maybe even allowing Hudson to move to G where I think he can really help out.

Houston is going to have a MONSTER season

I believe Smith will have a career season.

I think Catapano can contribute
I think we will get some help through the draft.

I KNOW that all of these things will not work out, but I believe some of them will.

Enough to, yes, improve the team.

Basically all the new and 2nd year players will have to fall flat on their faces for us to not have any chance at improving.

If half of the possible positive things that could happen , do, we will be improved.
If Dorsey has failed on on all those picks, and fails again this season, then we will in fact have the shit season so many people are predicting.
I'm just not ready to throw in the towel on two seasons worth of drafting yet.
Again, I know a lot of this stuff won't happen, but some of it will, and when it does, along with the continued development of our existing players we will be an improved football team.

Thats really not huge or unrealistic expectations.

When you pretend every single "if" has to happen to improve the team, that's huge and unrealistic...and stupid as shit.
