"The Baltimore Ravens announced the release of running back Ray Rice Monday.

A video emerged Monday of Rice punching his now-wife in an elevator.

We never should have seen the video, as it was Janey Rice's right not to press charges. It's awful, of course, that the NFL only takes decisive action against an incident like this the second it affects their PR (because of full videotape) and not for the moral principle of it all.

The video comes out and the NFL knows they have no way of hiding from this. PR nightmare. So they probably "encouraged" the Ravens to cut Rice, and then went ahead and slapped him with this so there is no talk about anyone picking him up this year, and hope that the story goes away in a few days.

Typical muli-billion dollar corporation stuff. This was all done due to the PR hit, and had nothing to do with doing the right thing, which would have happened way back when this first came out...

Why are they calling it "new" evidence? There is nothing "new" about it. It existed the moment he hit her, just like the video of Ray dragging her out of the elevator and dropping her face down.

The media needs some balls to call it what it is "previously ignored video the NFL hoped was never leaked".
