We had 4 dropped/missed INTs last night. 1 right through Maugas hands. Another one where JMJ jumped to early and the same for Ron Parker when he jumped too early. And than the last one by Abdullah

He barely played last week because he was injured and was inactive last night because he was injured. It's kinda irony that Gaines is the one who originally injured Owens and now is playing his spot

Go back nad re-watch the last two games. I mean REALLY watch them, and you'll see the difference between Berry/Parker/Abdullah. There are a few occasions were these safties are starting at near identical spots and Berry simply beats them to the ball carrier.

Berry is still good. Parker is still good. Chill the **** out.
I usually re-watch the games 2-3x a week, and one thing you will also notice is the reaction times of our trash ILB's. DJ was very good at diagnosing runs and making that first quick step to beat blockers. Our current ILBs wait and react once the lineman are already at the second level. I watched Mauga literally freeze like a deer in headlights on one of the counter-trey plays they ran last night on that late drive. DJ would have blew that shit up once he saw the lineman pull.

They all hurt.. but the Mauga one was a pick 6 and momentum shifter. He is trash in coverage and slow diagnosing running plays.

Yup.

Here's the thing, and i've been saying it for weeks now:

The difference between a championship team and a good team are the little guys. The talent gaps are so close with most teams that depth players mean so, so much. That's why it's so hard for teams to repeat, because those depth guys, or "roleplayers", change from season to season.

If our roleplayer/depth guys make the plays they needed to make, we win that game. They've been doing it most of the season. They just didn't do it last night.

Yup. Im not sure what's wrong with Mays, but JMJ is camp fodder and Mauga isn't full time starting material.

Remember that play last night when Mauga decked Carr? I remember it.....because it's the first time i've seen a middle linebacker close his eyes and flinch when he's about to hit a QB. Mauga doesn't like hitting. JMJ certainly doesn't like it.

Facts of life. That's what happens when you release a good corner and attempt to replace him with bargain basement F/A's.
Eh, I suppose theres nothing to argue with there, Fleming hasnt proven anything more than Parker, in fact he's proven less at corner.

Atleast Parker has the Seattle game to point to.

On a side note, it was clear that Cooper wasnt ready to start full time... but damn, he's been totally MIA since the benching, thats pretty weird to me.

When you get bitch slapped out of the way by Stevie Johnson for a TD, it's pretty much over.

Im actually not worried about the secondary at all. I understand everyone wants to blame Parker and Berry and Smith and Reid.....but this game isn't on them.

Our ILB's are shit. Probably the worst starting pair of 3-4 ILB's in the league. They deserve the heat, not the secondary.

They don't hit the gaps with any sort of conviction, especially JMJ. They get washed out, sometimes they run right into the blocker as if they were magnets instead of hitting the gap. And even when they do get there, they never make a good, sound, thumping tackle. It's always a semi-tackle and someone like Houston or Berry has to come in and clean it up.

They're soft. They're just not physical enough. Maybe their bodies are hurting and they're just not use to being full time starters in the NFL? I don't know. But they need to fix it.

Last night was because of our RUN defense, not our Pass defense. Im not worried about our pass defense at all.

JMJ at least had that nice pass deflection last night. Too bad it didn't wind up being an INT.

JMJ is a decent 4th LB who can play on STs.

The run D was great outside of the 90-yard run.

At the end of the game the pass D faltered.

But I think it had a lot to do with the damp field. The pass rushers couldn't deal with it.
