With the DayZ standalone playable alpha release looming, I thought I would check out the mod version of the game. http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/

If you dont know, DayZ is an open world survival zombie game modification based off of the military sim ArmA 2 games. www.dayzmod.com

Basically its hardcore mode survival against zombies and even more dangerous, other players.

I have been watching vids for months and took advantage of a steam sale today to pick up ArmA 2.

Anyone playing DayZ right now? Servers? Thoughts? I have a teamspeak we can use!

I got a kick out of listening to you guys get ambushed.


I tried to "Join Game" through the friends page on Steam, but it told me that the server was not available. When my headset comes in Tuesday I will give it a try again. It's cool to finally have a chance to join in on the fun.

I think you were listening when we killed 2 guys up at the North East Airfield (Military Base). I was a little trigger happy then.

You cant join from steam, you need to in game in dayz in the friends tab right now.

Made my way to Cherno today. Picked up a shotgun and a 1911 handgun so I'm feeling a little better about my ability to defend myself. I also found a compass. I cannot tell you how much easier it is to get around the map when you have a compass.

Having multiple monitors is a big help as I can pull up a map and get an idea of where I need to go.
