2019 Free agency Thread

We don't really have one of these yet, so figured we could use this as a place to discuss potential free agent acquisitions and what we would like to look for them to bring in.

If any of you guys are interested, heres a good place to do some research.

1st e already have one respectable corner. Wedon’t Need a 12 mil CB. 2nd it was our deep tointermediate coverage that was ass and that was due to our ass safeties and our ass DC. Safety can be fixed cheaper in FA than CB or DE or LB.

I’d like to see us take the BPA at CB/LB/DE in rounds 1-3.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I want KC to take BPA regardless of need...minus QB. That includes offense..

Rarely does a rookie make any meaningful contributions...draft for the future.

You realize that Spaggs likes to run a lot of cover 4 right?

To be fair he likes to mix personnel packages and alignments almost as much as the hoodie.

So scheme should be factored in...over individual talent. That was kind of my point...

No more over priced/hyped safeties....

Eagles won the Superbowl 2 years ago with cheap corners and paying 2 safeties.

The point I was trying to make was that safety is no longer an overpriced position. If anything it’s been devalued in a similar way to HB.

we will be doing good getting a CB that can learn the play book and understand his spot on the field - that - in and of itself is progress. Let that set in, then revisit this debate.

That should be a lot easier with this DC.

positioning may've been an equal problem to lacking physical talent. That's how bad we were. And perhaps how we devalue smarts vs. positional skill-set. Just another view.

I still see DoD being the cowbell for last year's draft class w/ Nnadi at 2 in skill and Speaks coming around in his natural domain.

Over time I think you’ll be right. I’m a big Nnadi fan though.

It does help those safeties that Gilmore (who they actually invested money in) basically eliminates 1 good player by shadowing him all game. A shutdown cover CB makes the difference.
