Here's a piece of sage advice:

They ALL suck. Why? Because they're mass produced in 3rd world countries.

You could buy any brand you want and you've got a 50/50 chance of getting a lemon.

So buy what you can afford and be prepared to replace it sooner rather than later.

The problems with the LG I had was due, mainly, to poor design.

I have an LG washer and dryer.

The washer is the best washer I've ever seen, hands down.

The dryer has had to have the motherboard replaced TWICE.

They were made in the same factory, at the same time.

I own some rental properties and I've literally owned every major brand of dishwasher. They all suck.

Haven't had that issue. Nice to know though.

Yup. And don't leave the clothes in the washer for too long or they start smelling.

Hence why I mentioned the poor design. It doesn't matter how good of quality the factory puts out if the design is poor.

Unfortunately, I think this is probably the right advice. I just bought a Kenmore, and replaced a Kenmore that was only five years old. You used to be able to get six to ten years out of a dishwasher, but most of the insides are made of cheaper plastic parts now. They just wear out sooner. The guy who installed mine said Samsung was crap and to avoid them.

I own an Appliance repair company and I have an LG dishwasher. Before that I had Bosch. Both are really good. One thing to look for is a model with the heater built into the pump. Don't buy one with an exposed heater way less efficient at heating the water and will melt plastic dishes. When the heater is in the recirculation system it heats the water quicker and you can load plastics on the lower rack. Go with stainless steel they retain heat better and dry more thoroughly.
