The hate for Bruce Weber.
All he has done is won a Conf Championship (our 1st since '77, when many projected they would finish 5th -7th), brought in great young talent like Foster and Iwundu, and beat ku in Bramlage. What is there to dislike? The fact that he struggled early this year starting 2 frosh and having 9 healthy scholarship players? The fact that he lost to to top 25 teams like UT, ISU and a hot WVU team on the road? The early exit in the Tourney last year against a team that went on to the Sweet 16? Or, is it that he isn't Frank Martin, not even remotely a sexy name coach and that is enough to instill the venom?

Oh, and the tourney game last season.....I put a very big chunk of that on Angel. He played his worst game of the season, dogged it really, and then transfers soon after? |

Regarding Angel and the La Salle Game
In 36 minutes of play, Angel was 0-6, 4 fouls, 3 turnovers, 4 assists and 2 steals, including a massive wtf shot at the end of the game. The only thing he was key in was helping the Cat's lose the game. It was one of his worst games of the year.
Now, Beyond the awful first half play, the Cat's offensive play in the final 4:30 of that game was deplorable. Our shot selection couldn't have been worse, and I blame a significant part of that on Bruce. We should have immediately called a TO after Wright missed that FT with 9.6 left on the clock. I would have set up a play to either get Rodney or Shane a shot. Having the ball in Angel's hands to take the last shot was beyond stupid. IMO, that wasn't what Bruce wanted, it's what Angel wanted. Again, Bruce mismanaged the time on that last possession, but Angel drove straight into an area with 3 players waiting for him. Had he crossed half court and looked back, he would have seen Southwell open between half court and the 3 pt Arc, where Shane could have either driven to the bucket, or pulled up for a J in the final 5-6 seconds. Instead, Angel dribbles the final seconds into vast nothingness.

I met Frank a couple of times, and his off-the-court persona was VERY different, and he was a very likeable guy. Bruth isn't Frank, nor does he have to be. He just has to not be Bruth. And yes, the inability to call a timeout against LaSalle sure didn't help matters.

I don't see what the issue is?
I'm differentiating between the person and the coach. Asbury: Poor Coach, Unlikable Guy Wooldridge: Poor Coach, Likable guy Frank: Better than Average Coach, Likable Guy Weber: Decent coach (so far, time will tell), Unlikable guy

The timeout on a final possession isn't limited to that play. It's his philosophy that the chances to score without calling a TO and giving defense a chance to adjust are higher than calling a set play from a TO. See the end of regulation Monday.

I dislike his claim that he was calling for a timeout the whole time to be more aggravating. If that's your philosophy, fine, but don't claim you tried taking one when we all saw you standing there.
