The hate for Bruce Weber.

All he has done is won a Conf Championship (our 1st since '77, when many projected they would finish 5th -7th), brought in great young talent like Foster and Iwundu, and beat ku in Bramlage. What is there to dislike? The fact that he struggled early this year starting 2 frosh and having 9 healthy scholarship players? The fact that he lost to to top 25 teams like UT, ISU and a hot WVU team on the road? The early exit in the Tourney last year against a team that went on to the Sweet 16? Or, is it that he isn't Frank Martin, not even remotely a sexy name coach and that is enough to instill the venom?

Agreed. I'm still guarded about the long term, but not sure how anyone could argue about the results thus far. And as you said, with Foster/Iwundu/Thomas (he'll get better), he's established a pretty solid foundation for the next few years.

Oh, and the tourney game last season.....I put a very big chunk of that on Angel. He played his worst game of the season, dogged it really, and then transfers soon after?

You must be joking. Angel "dogged" it in that game? Without him the comeback from down 20 never happens. Our coach, you know, the brilliant mind, allowed his team to take the floor seemingly unprepared to take the floor. Then, with the season hanging in the balance chose to watch the last 0:07 of the game as a bystander. Weber takes all the blame for that performance.

Regarding Angel and the La Salle Game

In 36 minutes of play, Angel was 0-6, 4 fouls, 3 turnovers, 4 assists and 2 steals, including a massive wtf shot at the end of the game. The only thing he was key in was helping the Cat's lose the game. It was one of his worst games of the year.

Now, Beyond the awful first half play, the Cat's offensive play in the final 4:30 of that game was deplorable. Our shot selection couldn't have been worse, and I blame a significant part of that on Bruce. We should have immediately called a TO after Wright missed that FT with 9.6 left on the clock. I would have set up a play to either get Rodney or Shane a shot. Having the ball in Angel's hands to take the last shot was beyond stupid. IMO, that wasn't what Bruce wanted, it's what Angel wanted. Again, Bruce mismanaged the time on that last possession, but Angel drove straight into an area with 3 players waiting for him. Had he crossed half court and looked back, he would have seen Southwell open between half court and the 3 pt Arc, where Shane could have either driven to the bucket, or pulled up for a J in the final 5-6 seconds. Instead, Angel dribbles the final seconds into vast nothingness.

it's that I don't like HIM. Period. The way he stands by usually on the sideline with no energy, slack jawed, the sound of his voice. I don't have to like him to like KSU basketball.

I met Frank a couple of times, and his off-the-court persona was VERY different, and he was a very likeable guy. Bruth isn't Frank, nor does he have to be. He just has to not be Bruth.

And yes, the inability to call a timeout against LaSalle sure didn't help matters.

The unlikable guy part is what I don't get. Have you met Bruce? It doesn't sound like it. You don't like the way he sounds, or the way he looks with his mouth open, or the fact that his demeanor is more calm than Frank. I couldn't give a shit less what he looks or sounds like as long as he wins - and he is winning. As far as a genuinely nice guy, Bruce is one of them. He isn't going to be the engaging story teller, or the outgoing personality like Frank. That's not who he is. He's just a nice, loyal guy, who fits into the Manhattan community perfectly. I wasn't initially enamored with the Weber hire, but I like what I see on the court, and I like how it's about the TEAM and not about him (see: Martin, Frank for the opposite of my last line).

Only enough to shake his hand whenwe took a tour of the basketball facility, and that he trots right past me at every football game. But I never met Wooly or Asbury either.

The timeout on a final possession isn't limited to that play. It's his philosophy that the chances to score without calling a TO and giving defense a chance to adjust are higher than calling a set play from a TO. See the end of regulation Monday.

I dislike his claim that he was calling for a timeout the whole time to be more aggravating. If that's your philosophy, fine, but don't claim you tried taking one when we all saw you standing there.
