DayZ

With the DayZ standalone playable alpha release looming, I thought I would check out the mod version of the game. http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/

If you dont know, DayZ is an open world survival zombie game modification based off of the military sim ArmA 2 games. www.dayzmod.com

Basically its hardcore mode survival against zombies and even more dangerous, other players.

I have been watching vids for months and took advantage of a steam sale today to pick up ArmA 2.

Anyone playing DayZ right now? Servers? Thoughts? I have a teamspeak we can use!

on low settings probably, but don't expect killer performance, especially in cities. That stuff is outdated and will hold you back. As optimizations come it will get better.

Save yourself $30 and slingshot your car keys up in the air and spend a couple hours trying to find them for free.

My buddies computer in his living room and I was watching him play this during the hockey game the other night. Those videos you see are 5 minutes in otherwise hours of boring and monotonous running around on foot looking for rotten fruit and something to drink with the occasional zombie.

I don't understand the appeal of this game outside the occasional amusing encounter. To each his own. Give me Battlefield anyday.

Instant gratification FPS is fine.

DayZ is not that. DayZ is a psychological thriller.

I have to say too.. this game is an alpha.

It plays like an alpha, even though it is getting improved every day it has a long way to go.

Without vehicles, there is plenty of running.. but once you know the map, you can be geared within 10-15 minutes and sometimes 2 if you spawn in the right spot.

After that, its 100% shenanigans if you want. Or you can play running simulator. There is no rule or meta-game to speak of

It is not really a fps, it is a survival simulator. Really only fun with friends. When you die, that is it. You lose everything. that is what people like.

Hometeam who do you play DayZ with? I have played with a few people, but no one I know personally plays games.

How many CP'ers play?
