That's what I was asking before. They run a 4-3 right? If Rex switches he really will be a dumbtard.

The Bills are one year removed from Mike Pettine, who is a Ryan disciple. Defensively, it's an excellent hire. Ryan can quickly make this defense his, and his scheme, by the way, is a 3-4 and 4-3 hybrid. Actually, in the past few years, he's been trying to make the Jets scheme more 4-3 than 3-4.

The problem with Ryan is he's an overrated motivator and he's a QB destroyer. He needed to go to a front office with half a brain that is going to overrule him when he's wrong. Buffalo has the same history of incompetence that we do.

I tend to agree.

However, consider what would happen if he improves that defense be greater than it already is. He WAS with the Ravens when they Trent Dilfered a Super Bowl. I think his best chance at ultimate success with the Bills is going to have to come through a repeat of that process.

He should try to find a Josh McCown-type of lamebrain to take Orton's place as soon as possible. EJ Manuel can be the Stony Case/Tony Banks guy they're trying to develop.

Whaley's a very good talent evaluator that learned the ropes in Pittsburgh. They've had some very good drafts, of both offensive and defensive players, and I don't think he'll shy away from drafting another QB. He's also made some nice free agent acquisitions, like that of Jerry Hughes, who'd done nothing in Indy.

Greg Roman probably the perfect OC for Rex because he's into smash mouth football which will extend drives. Time will tell but this seems like a great hire to me.

I don't know if you could say it's a "Shit hire." Depends on if you think Rex is a good coach or not. He certainly knows the division. He'll be motivated to beat the Jets, he has experience against Hoodie. Let's see who he gets as the OC. If he gets Testerman, they could have a formidable team in a hurry. Buffalo has been a real sleeper the last couple years. I think they could be the next big thing in the AFC East after Brady retires.

The fact he has Trestman wanting to join forces with him makes him all the more appealing I'd think.

A team that's basically a QB away from the playoffs hires a coach who just failed twice at getting/developing his last team one. Noice.

Current NFL is meaningless without a QB that the refs will slant the rules toward. As good of defenses as KC and Buffalo had it meant nothing. The Chuck it deep and pray for a flag era.

Seattle beat statistically the greatest offense of all time last year in the Super Bowl, and are probably favorites to do it again this year because of their defense. Russell Wilson is a great QB but I wouldn't say he succeeds because of officiating help the same way someone like Manning often seems to. Defense isn't dead, it's still necessary. The team that wins it all will most likely be playing very good defense.

Russel, the read option, and how well he throws the deep ball are all equal factors with that. The guy is devastating. But hey we got Donald Stephenson because of Scooters love with Cassel.

Yeah, but they win because of their defense. When you only allow about 14 points a game and force a bunch of turnovers, there's not much pressure on the offense. Last year they completely shut down the offense that scored the most points and yards of any offense ever in the Super Bowl, and all people want to talk about is Russell Wilson.

I don't know why you are worried about this. Wilson would have never have played a down here. He would have been the same guy as Chase Daniel on 31 other teams.
