I'll agree with that, but I think I'm just not it's true target audience.

I can be more than casual if I really want to. I usually play maybe 10-15 hours of games a week. If I really want to go at something (and piss off the girlfriend) I could do 30+.

For me, I'm at the point where I'm sort of stuck grinding to move on to new content, and I'm tired of just doing the same stuff over and over and I'd rather spend my hour or two a day of time playing something else I'll actually enjoy instead of building spreadsheets to track what I've done today/this week with which character.

The main obstacle is I don't really enjoy playing with randos, and I'm not on at the same time as folks from here are much. That's compounded by the fact that I switched from 360 to PS4 while most of the people I played with on there went with the bone.

The other thing is, when I'm playing with friends mostly we just want to have a few pops, make untoward comments about each other's moms/wives/etc. have some giggles and rag on Tyler (no not just because he's black)...not spend hours trying to figure out the Vault of Glass.

I mean the raids sound cool and all, and I'd love to give them a go, but I just am not at the point anymore where I want to spend hours or days trying to figure it out. I'm stuck around 25-6 on all 3 characters and unless I find a group willing to sherpa me, I doubt I'll ever do any of the raids. Hell, the way the RNG treats me, it may take me until June to get the drops I need to even make it past the 3rd Crota mission.

I'm sure all this would change some if I had a good core group of people who were often online at the same time and I enjoyed playing with.

I loved the concept of the game...an MMO ShootPG that had singleplayer and/or fireteam co-op storyline and that Bungie seemed really dedicated to and had a 10 year plan for...that's great, I'm in. I'm big on stories and one of those people who still buy games like Battlefield and CoD just for the singleplayer stuff. The only games I've had much fun playing MP on are either co-op like Mass Effect 3(which I do like about the PvE portion of Destiny, just the above issues keep me from co-oping much) or team-objective based stuff that rewards strategy over run and gun like Battlefield 4. I long ago accepted the fact that I suck at the latter (I can admit that), and I start late enough usually that I'm way behind other people with loadouts so I pretty much just have a bad time.

The sandbox is fun, and I'm often finding myself just running around starting sht all over the maps, joining public events, etc. rather than grinding bounties/strikes to try to get rep and marks. I've realized that the approach to the game that's enjoyable to me isn't conducive to the way Bungie wants you to progress a character. C'est la vie.

I guess I'm holding out hope that Bungie can tweek things so that it rewards both players like me and the hardcore bunch in a way that allows everyone to have a more enjoyable experience. I don't know how they'd go about doing that, but if their as committed long term to the game as they claim hopefully they can figure something out. I'm sure that even the hardcore guys are going to get tired of grinding the same raid multiple times across all their characters to get the special weapons and raid gear just to have some of that more or less nerfed/obsoleted when Bungie comes out with a new DLC. Rinse, repeat.

What sucks is the controls and mechanics of actual gameplay are great and a shit ton of fun. The visuals and sound are also great. I often get sucked in for a couple of hours, have a great time, then when I quit my session realize I made almost no real progress and basically wasted it all. That would be fine if I didn't have like a half dozen other games in my backlog, but I do and it's just sort of deflating. I purchased DLC that I can't even really access because I can't level high enough as a casual for christ sakes. And don't get me started on the fact that a lot of the daily/weekly stuff is now running DLC only missions so people who didn't purchase (or people who did but aren't leveled enough) it can't do half of what you need to do to level the **** up! That is some horseshit of the highest grade. Thanks for the ungreased double backdoor jackhammering Bungie! Sure sandboxing is giggles, but why am I wasting time with this hoping for a legendary drop (because it's my only hope of leveling without running redundant co-op strikes raids, I know)? I've been playing since day 1. 3 mid-20's characters, not sure how many hours, but it's substantial. Not as much as a lot of people, I'm sure, but still I got my first purple drop like 4 or 5 days ago (outside of gifts from the Cryptard and Bungie). I've gotten 2 more since. I realize that stuff is supposed to be rare, but come the **** on.

I'd just like to find a group that I can play with late Saturday night and Sunday night. I haven't even tried a raid yet because there is no way I'll get 6 people together at the same time.

Out of all my games Destiny is still the most fun but also the MOST AGGRAVATING game of them all. Playing the same missions over and over plus making the add on content play at a level that I haven't even attained yet is extremely annoying. Not to mention strikes that I can't play yet either.

I sent a message to bungie on their facebook page but of course never heard a word. Not that I really expected to but hey, you never know.

I just wish they had a damn story. I mean, an entire game and only 3 major cutscenes? Seriously? I still think its Activision ****ing this thing up and not Bungie.

I could probably do stuff late on a Sat or Sun with enough notice. I know I'll for sure be around a lot on the last weekend this month.

That second part really pisses me off. Especially now that half the stuff you need to do to level up you can't because it's the DLC. Hence the screaming earlier. That is just utter shite.

Also, FWIW I hear Xur is being generous this weekend as well. There is talk of Icebreaker for sale, but I haven't confirmed it personally.

Got an e-mail with a code for it...if you were in the alpha, you got one.

The PS4 beta is pretty limited as MS has a deal for Evolve including beta/DLC/etc.

Dying light is coming out here in like a week. It's an open world zombie killing type thing that takes place in Turkey. It really looks good...
It kinda reminds me of Farcry with a lot of parcour. I think I'll be picking it up.
Looking at some of the Beta vids, it looks pretty damn challenging.
