And yeah, yeah, trafficking, whatever. Obviously, people shouldn't be forced into prostitution, but they also shouldn't be forced into road paving or fast food or nursing. Being against slavery and kidnapping is very different than being against the Naked Chicks store at the mall.

My issue with it is two-fold:

#1) They are making an implicit value judgment that their worth is tied to their ability to perform sex acts for compensation, which reinforces the idea of women as objects for edification.

I would offer a couple of counterpoints.

How is point #1 not true for other professions? If society treated sexual services like a physical service akin to getting a massage or a haircut, then it's no different than any of those things. It's trading a service for payment, no more and no less. I don't understand why it's treated under a different set of rules.

Also on Point #1, the feminist issue cuts both ways. We as society are looking at a service that women can provide almost exclusively (set aside the gay and gigolo markets for a moment), and saying "don't do that; we want you to be 'pure and chaste'". As was mentioned earlier, it's a route that many women can take to be economically self-sufficient, and it's not allowed? And as others have mentioned, it's the woman's body. Why can she not act as she sees fit? We let boxers beat the bloody hell out of each other and we let soldiers go into combat and we let iron workers walk around 80 stories up, but we don't let a woman make her own decision about impersonating a starfish for ten minutes to make her car payment?

On your second point, I don't really know the dynamics of prostitution. Are you citing "deception" as an implication that the woman is pretending that she likes the john, or that she enjoys the sex? If so, I'll note that my waitress pretends she likes me so she can get a bigger, and my vendors pretend to like me so I'll hire them again. When I go onto a car lot, I'm an A-list celebrity. It's not deceit, it's sales.

I think it's very paternalistic to control prostitution, and while I know this sounds counterintuitive, I think it's disrespectful to assume that women are unable to make this decision and we as society must protect and control them (and cut off some income from them).

I doubt that's sustainable though, if there are roughly 260 weekdays in a year, and you're taking 2 Viagra's per day, we're looking at 500+ pills per year... you will inevitably catch a stroke in the near future. Either that, or eventually lose all empathy for sexual desires and OD on some heroine while listening to a Smiths album.

I doubt you'd be doing it every day. Maybe 2-3 times a week. One viagra or cialis a day and you'd be great. So 2-3 a week.
