If the hiring manager could find someone who could do your job in 10 minutes at any doughnut rack, at any gas station in the city, then you don't have any job leverage.

It used to be a career, at least in the 70's and 80's. People would work from cash register up to assistant manager to manager and often times, to district manager. I knew store managers making $35, 40k and even $50k back in the 80's and that was pretty good money.

Now, McDonalds and the rest have bought back most, if not all, of their franchises and pay kids minimum wage while corporations earn and insane profit and valuation while their employees can barely afford living.

Something's got to give, IMO. Obscene wealth for the sake of obscene wealth is obscene.

It will certainly kill their business when people stop eating there because of the price increases to cover their raise.

Unfortunately this will be a precedent setter. If it gets approved/forced on them, then it opens the flood gates for every other fast food employee out there. Cost of living will take big hit no matter where you are.
